We as a society, meaning the majority of us, seem to view homemaking as something that anyone could do therefore it isn't a real job. If you are a homemaker and your spouse/partner isn't doing "their part" you must be subservient. And there seems to be no consideration of how well you do your job or how many tasks are included in your job. Sure, anyone could do almost any given part, but few could do all that a homemaker does. Then there are those that seem conflicted in their view. The...

I have not been on JoeUser as much these past few days because Comcast can't seem to keep their DNS working! That frustrates the heck out of me! I am not going to be getting any money back for that lost time either. I heard on the TV last night that Comcast's bid for Disney is a no go. Gee, too bad...not!

My bad day started at 2:30AM on Thurs. My 3yr old woke up throwing up in the hall. Poor little guy continued throwing up every 30mins, almost like clockwork until 9:30AM. He would wake up, throw up, be wide awake for a few minutes and then basically pass out for about 15 more minutes and then repeat. It was a very long day to say the least. I talked to the pediatrician and she basically said I was doing the right things and to bring him in if it continued pass 8hrs. He slept well last ni...

The murder of 11yr old Carlie has given me a stomach ache since it happened. I have two young children and now my heart jumps every time they are out of sight for any amount of time. To have seen her actual abduction on tape and then have her end up murdered is just something I am having a hard time dealing with. Recently I came across a group called Kidz Idz. They go around to places like Chuck E Cheese and finger print your children for free so you can keep it on file. They were outside...

I felt compelled to write this because of all of the recent ragging on Brad that I have seen. Funny thing is, I am quite certain these people would handle things quite differently if it were in person. I feel for Brad because he is providing a very nice service that some ignorant people think is just free for them to tread all over. Brad is a very busy business owner. He enjoys blog sites and felt he could provide a good one. I feel he has done an excellent job. People can come here for ...

My morning got off to a startling start. At 8:15 the 3yr old came padding into my room. Panic was instantly there to greet me. What time is it?! How did I over sleep?! I must have gotten so into my dreams or never set the alarm ( I am thinking the latter). I had 15 minutes to get my slow poke 7yr old ready to get his ride to school. Could it be done? I was sure going to give it a go. I told my son good morning and instructed him to go to the bathroom and meet me down stairs for his ...

I was flipping channels a couple days ago and came across a new show on VH1. It is called "Bands Reunited" and I am totally surprised at how much I am intrigued by it. There is something exciting about their quest to track down these band mates and try to get them to come together once again. One example was last night's episode where they were hunting down the members of Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Remember the song "Relax"). They managed to get them all together for a reunion but were una...

I thought I would try to give my quest for weight loss a little boost by trying Slimfast bars for breakfast and lunch for a while. I did so the last 3 days and have been having stomach cramps and dizziness. I don't know if this is just a coincidence and maybe my problems are unrelated to Slimfast. Has anyone out there had problems with this product? More specifically, I have been eating the Peanut butter meal replacement bars. I have been feeling out of energy and crappy since I started e...

I am very happy with my life right now. I could always be happier with myself though. Here are some things that would make me better in my eyes: More discipline Lose about 40lbs. I enjoy blogging as both a journal and an interaction with an international group. I have found that I am learning much more than I ever anticipated. My husband even mentioned that he thinks I have been more witty, quick witted and have a larger vocabulary lately. I credit JoeUser with that. I think that just as you need to condition your body, you need to exercise your brain. It is so easy to get into a mental slump when you are home all day with a 3yr old. Some weeks I barely interact ...

I missed Tuesday night's auditions but caught last night's auditions in Houston, TX. I think they set a new record for worst auditions ever! Paula was feeling ill and ended up leaving about half way through. All of them walked out on people at different times. Both Simon and Randy walked out on a guy and he just kept singing...terribly! It still boggles me, and I love it, that these people think they can be stars. I have taped myself singing and listened to it. I am not bad for your ave...

We went through the building process twice in the past 8yrs. We learned a lot from the first experience and applied it to the second. Here are a couple of things I am loving in the new house 1)Central Vac system. I thought it cost way too much but my husband argued well for it. I am so glad he did! It makes my life so much easier! I was skeptical because I thought dragging the hose around to the different ports would be just as much a hassle as dragging the whole vac....it isn't by far...

I am a person that hates clutter in the kitchen. I love to cook but require lots of counter space and organization. I get frustrated with cookbooks because they take up so much space but usually only contain a couple of recipes I really use more than once a year. I have an organizer full of irreplacable recipes like old family recipes. I also have the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook that I will never get rid of. For anything else, I just hop on the internet. I love that my husband can ...

As you can tell from the name of my site "More than just mommy" I consider myself more than just a homemaker even though my main job is staying home to care for my children and our household. I still have a foot in the career world since my husband and I (I helped establish the company) have a software company. I am the Human Resources manager so I still do an important job. If I don't do my job, people don't get their paycheck and benefits. Once the boys are both in school, I plan to go b...
