I just finished reading The DaVinci Code and really enjoyed it. I liken it to the Indiana Jones stories. I think if you like Indiana Jones, you will like this book. That said, if you are defensive about your christian beliefs, you probably won't like this book. It is all about pagan origins of christian beliefs. Interesting stuff but some might find it very offensive. This story has so many twists and turns! The characters are so interesting and the descriptions of European churche...

Just heard this and thought it was good enough to pass along: My husband decided he was fed up with my mood swings so he thought it would be clever to get me a mood ring for Christmas so he could tell what mood I was in. When I am in a good mood, the ring turns green. When I am in a bad mood, the ring leaves a red mark on my husband's head. Maybe next year the jerk will get me a diamond!

I thought I would share this with my fellow carboholics. I recently changed my way of eating drastically. I am a person that loves a cup of coffee and something sweet for breakfast. Not a big breakfast eater. The thought of eggs for breakfast didn't sound great to me but when I was told that up to 6 eggs a week was quite healthy and if I ate an egg for breakfast I would find I was less hungry and would burn more fat and less muscle, I figured I would try it out. I alternate an egg breakfast w...

I have eluded to this idea in commenting on other articles. I think the current system makes it too hard for people who aren't used to planning to use the assistance they get to it's maximum benefit. Here is my idea. I am posting it in hopes of getting peoples ideas to add to the idea. Feel free to tell me why it is a bad idea (if it is) also. I believe we should create government stores that assistance vouchers would be redeemed at. The vouchers would be recieved each month with a bro...

Was searching the internet regarding Kerry's stance on Iraq since so many say he doesn't flip flop. I found this site and thought it was good for a chuckle Link

I honestly want to know what the lies were that Sen Kerry was referencing in his remarks. I have heard Bush reference Kerry's history of flip flopping. Those weren't lies. If it is about his plans for our taxes, please be specific about what those plans are. I want to hear more from Kerry than Bush bashing and about his Vietnam Vet record. Dole was an honorable veteran. It didn't warrant his becoming president. What is it that Kerry will do for us other than reversing the Bush tax cut...

There has been a lot of talk about the rules and regulations regarding food stamps. A lot of us seem to experience the same observation, these women tend to have beautiful nails! *Notice I didn't say they all have* I would love to have beautiful nails. I don't. You know why? I don't have the time because I am taking care of my home and family! Before children, I would get acrylic nails because I have a hard time growing my own. It is expensive and very time intensive. You have to sit there fo...

I have been sick so often lately that I am starting to think that natural selection failed in letting me become an adult. The thing is, I don't remember being sick much as a kid. Even in college I was only really sick a couple of times. I think everyone has fallen victim to strep throat or the flu at one time or another. The past couple of years I have had so many sinus problems, colds, etc. I don't know what the deal is! Some people say that you get sick a lot the first couple of year...

I was so excited when I heard this story on the news this morning. Scientists were able to freeze a woman's ovary while she underwent treatment for cancer. She went into menopause which would normally mean she no longer had hopes for concieving. They then implanted the ovary under her tissue, it reversed her menopause, ovum were produced, they then created an embryo. Unfortunately the implantation was unsuccessful but it sure gives new hope. Men currently have great success in having sp...

I heard this story this afternoon on The View. If anyone knows more, please share details! As the story was told on the show, a 10 day old baby died in a house fire 6yrs ago. The body was presumed completely incinerated. 6yrs later, the mother of the baby was at a friend's child's birthday party when she noticed a little girl and instantly thought "that is my daughter!" She saw a defining dimple that her infant had had. She then had the forethought to tell the girl she had gum in her h...

Spring came just in time for me. My 7yr old was on mid-Winter break last week and had slept in late and stayed up late all that week. Yesterday was a beautiful day and all the kids were outside playing. Hide-and-go-seek, tag, swings, trampolene, mud, you name it, they were all over it. This allowed me to put them to bed at 9 and actually have them conk out. There is just something about the Spring air and the prospect of grass greening and flowers blooming. It gives me a boost. Fresh ...

To all of you long time JU participants, am I the only one noticing the cliques that seem to be forming? I find it interesting that as soon as enough people were present long enough for others to get a feel for their views, groups formed. The same people tend to comment on the same authors' stuff. Don't get me wrong, I find it entertaining. I also find it interesting. From my experience, no matter the size or diversity of the group, cliques always form. That is also why I think i...

I Personally find Sir Pete amusing at times but if a woman takes him seriously at all, they tend to get perturbed. Here is a guide to help: Do: Read Sir Pete's stuff if you don't take him seriously and are in it to play along and have a good chuckle. Egg him on so he will give outrageous replies. Give raspberries to anyone who gives you guff about egging him on since you have as much right to do that as anyone has the right to pander to him. Delete his comments to your own articles sin...

I have not seen The Passion of the Christ, therefore, I will not give any views regarding the movie. I would like to hear from people who have though. I am very frustrated about hearing all sorts of commentary about how antisemitic it is and then to hear at the end of the speech that the person, usually a Jewish leader, didn't actually see the movie but was basing this off from what they heard along with antisemitic things that Mel Gibson's father has said. Would a food critic write a rev...
