What I would change to make a better me
Published on January 29, 2004 By JillUser In Blogging
I am very happy with my life right now. I could always be happier with myself though. Here are some things that would make me better in my eyes:

More discipline
Lose about 40lbs.
Learn more about the world (would settle for the US for now )
Become a better debater
Be less quick to judge
Enjoy sleep less
Enjoy exercise more
Break my chocolate addiction
Show my appreciation more
Be less of a worry wart
Solve world hunger (just checking to see if you are paying attention)
Care less about what others think
Be more organized

Well, that would be a good start Please share with me what you would like to change about yourself. I think my things are pretty common but I am curious.

interesting concept, and one that's worth looking at. i've been considering how to go about improving the things in my life that i need to work on for quite some time, and i've been trying to take those little steps required to make the necessary changes.

I want to become more educated, so i'm going to college in my off duty time.
I want to get promoted at work, so i've been studying for the promotion test. I bought the computer study program, and the CD version to listen to while i drive. If i don't ace the test, i'll have no one to blame but myself.
I want to be more organized, so i bought a "Day Runner" and i've started spending a couple hours a week going thru my piles of packratted junk and throwing out stuff i don't need
I want to be more healthy, so i've been making myself drink more water and eat better meals
I plan to ride bulls again this year, so i've been doing wrist exercises with my wrist exerciser thingy
I want to "get in better shape" so i plan to buy this hi speed contraption that mounts on the back of a door that I can do various exercises with... I'm also gonna start running some when the weather warms up a little...
I must pass college algebra to get my associate's and then bachelor's, so i'm living, eating, sleeping and shitting algebra for the next 4 weeks (i'm halfway done!)
I finally got that painting hung on the wall!

The list goes on, but i'm going to stop there. The ironic thing about all of this is that i'm 29 yrs old, and still single. I just haven't put forth the effort required to find "the one". My current girlfriend is just as strung out as i am, and plans to go to Vet School this fall, so we won't see much of each other for the next 4 years.

I can't help but wonder how my life would be different if I was married or had kids. Would i have time to do all the extra curricular things that i do? I'm thinking not....

Day Runners are awesome! I have a regular one on my desk at home and a mini one in my car.

Marriage and kids makes extra curriculars much more difficult to schedule in. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world though.

Your list sounds like very realistic, healthy goals. Best wishes.

All good things for anyone to abide by ~smiles~ Without self-evaluation there would be no growth :0)

I've been thinking lately about changes in my life that need to be made. I think about these things a lot, yet rarely do anything about it. Who knows, maybe telling someone else about what I would like to do will actually urge me to do more than just talk!
-do the dishes every day, not just when we've run out of clean ones. It's the worst chore in the world. I keep an impeccable bathroom, manage to vacuum frequently, and keep a decent house, but I do slack with the dishes.
-quit smoking. I smoke a pack every two weeks. Can go for several days without them, but once day 4 hits, I light up. Baaaad habit.
-start walking more. I drive my car far too often. The car is convenient with my child, but I do have time to myself. I could get to downtown by using my feet and not taking the lazy way out.
-stop eating too much food. I don't necessarily want to diet, just cut back on the amount that I eat. But, yeah, I could make better food choices as well.
-save money. I need to stop renting videos. That would save me a lot of coin.
Good luck, to all of us.
