Blogging, it is like sit-ups for your mind
Published on January 27, 2004 By JillUser In Blogging
I enjoy blogging as both a journal and an interaction with an international group. I have found that I am learning much more than I ever anticipated. My husband even mentioned that he thinks I have been more witty, quick witted and have a larger vocabulary lately. I credit JoeUser with that.

I think that just as you need to condition your body, you need to exercise your brain. It is so easy to get into a mental slump when you are home all day with a 3yr old. Some weeks I barely interact in person with anyone other than my husband and children.

It is so stimulating to hear other's perspectives on things. To have subjects brought up that prompt you to do your own little info gathering journey. It is much easier to sit at home, watch TV while you are folding laundry and think about what to cook for dinner. Not fulfilling, but easy.

I kind of get a similar feeling as to when I was in college and meeting new, exciting, different people. This is so much better though. I am not stressed about what I will do for the rest of my life, I don't have to worry about early classes or exams, and I can sit at the computer in my PJs and interact with all of these interesting people....what a great time to be alive!

I am starting a new campaign "Don't jog, Blog!" After all, it is a very low impact activity

Yeah... kind of like college except without the rampant orgies... d'oh.

I still think people should get outside and excersise though!!!!

I have found this blog site an inspiration. I didn't know what DDT was 4 days ago, now i am inspired to learn about it. I know a hell of a lot more about the American political system, and also the conservative supporters... of which i had had no interaction with in my life ever... and i am a better person for it!!!

yay JoeUser.

~Smiles~

I agree that mental exercise is just as needed as physical exercise and that all things learned are relavant to future such questionable situations. ~chuckles~

At any rate, I am glad to hear you are enjoying the blog revolution immensely. And the phrase Don't jog, blog is catchy, but it might work out better if stated "Blog and Jog" ~chuckles~ except for humor of course ~winks~

I hear what you are saying. I got into it to archive information for another site and it gets addictive. I even get a kick out of those who have opposing views. The pure volume of information flowing constantly, keeps you checking back. I'm sitting here at 3:30a.m. and told myself to get to sleep over an hour ago. The 'blog and jog' is going to show up on someones bumper, you can bet on it. 'Don't jog, Blog' will too.

Mine is "Don't jog, blog" because I don't have cartiledge in my knees so I would be having knee replacement surgery if I jogged. Really, I am not saying you shouldn't exercise, I am just saying blogging is better Maybe the best thing would be to get one of those little pedalling machines where you could pedal along while blogging!

Thanks for the comments.

Wahkonta, 3:30AM?! You need help!

Yeah, I'm really getting into this blogging thing. So much so that in the last week, I signed up for home internet service. Before, I was either using the University computers, or my parents' computer at their home. The sucky thing is, my computer is crap and I'm on dial-up. It takes so loonnggg to load a page, especially in the forum section.
The topics that I've been interested in lately seem to be written by those with God in their minds, or hearts. I'm undecided, btw, but it's interesting hearing their point of view. As well, it has been quite a change reading American opinions and issues. Again, interesting.
Joeuser is my new thing now.
