The adventures of Mommy woman
I'm hooked

I was flipping channels a couple days ago and came across a new show on VH1. It is called "Bands Reunited" and I am totally surprised at how much I am intrigued by it. There is something exciting about their quest to track down these band mates and try to get them to come together once again.

One example was last night's episode where they were hunting down the members of Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Remember the song "Relax"). They managed to get them all together for a reunion but were unable to achieve the secondary goal which is to get them to perform a one night concert for their fans. The lead singer felt that if they were to ever perform together again, they would need at least a few weeks practice rather than just one day.

They were fairly successful with the band Klymaxx (song "I Miss You") except there was a feud with one member so they performed without her. They were the most successful (that I have seen) with the band Kajagoogoo (song "Too shy to shy"). They seemed like really nice guys who were kids when they broke up and had done a lot of growing since.

I am just fascinated with how much these people have changed and how their lives changed after the band was over with. I am a nostalgic person so I really enjoy this kind of stuff.

VH1 Has a bunch of cool shows. I have written blogs on "I Love the 70s/80s" and the biographies of the recent divas. (Brittany, Christina, Pink, and Jessica.) VH1 is certainly fodder for weblogs.

I haven't watched MTV since they took "Beavis and Butthead" off the air. Fuse channel actually plays videos. (a definite plus!)

VH1 is among the most entertaining cable channels. I suppose the reason for that is that the shows are written toward my demographic,

JillUser,
I don't know how much you know about 80's Canadian music, but I was skimming through the Toronto Star one day and caught a line in the entertainment section that said that Platinum Blonde would be playing one night next week. Platinum Blonde!!!. (If you don't recognize the group I would just have to say big hair, pseudo rock riffs, shiny outfits.) I keep trying to come across the american type of band and the best I could come up with is David Lee Roth ala the song Jump! but even that is giving the band too much credit!
Have fun watching the show.

I agree with you. I enjoy the Bands Reunited show as well. The Flock of Seagulls one was great and they sounded very good.

The other really good one and the one that got me hooked was Romeo Void. It had added drama because since the band had been together, the sax player got extensive ear damage and couldn't play anymore. Very sad. The Extreme one was also pretty good.

For all these shows you really get a sense of just how much these bands meant to the members.

Another excellent VH1 show is "Best Week Ever."

If I Love The 80s had a baby, Best Week Ever would be the child! Bringing the spirit of VH1’s hit series to current events, Best Week Ever, is a weekly half-hour show that provides a free-wheeling and funny review of the entertaining news and pop culture developments that make the past week the Best Week Ever!

The series will feature comics, actors and musicians providing their provocative, amusing and slightly twisted takes on the high (and low) points of the big and small stories of the week.

Topics sure to be covered will include celebrity scandals, top movies, the sports world and its more visible players, the presidential campaign, various "did you see that?" moments on TV, fashion and style, music and other topical events. The series will premiere a new half-hour episode every Friday at the same time.

I watched Best Week Ever last night. Very cool! It is a very entertaining way of catching up on all the hoopla you might have missed out on.
