I don't know how other people react to cold days but they make me want to cook.  I am in Michigan right now and it feels a lot more like late September than August.  Some of the leaves are already changing! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year but August is a little early to start even for me   Instead of throwing some shorts on, drinking a glass of water and getting outside, I threw some jeans and a long sleaved shirt, had some coffee and curled up on the couch.  I ...

My heart is still racing and my stomach is still in my throat.  My 4yr old got away from me at the mall.  What a nightmare! My 7 and 4yr olds were holding hands and walking right in front of me when I recieved a cell call from my hubby.  While talking on the phone the boys, still hand-in-hand, jogged off ahead into the book store where we were headed.  What I didn't see was that the 4yr old ran right back out into the mall. As soon as I entered the book store I saw the ...

I got the opportunity today to spend some time on my own and boy did I get stuff done!  My hubby worked from home and kindly took over care of the boys so I could venture out sans children.  In 1.75 hours I ran to 4 different destinations one of which was to get a pedicure and manicure.  I feel so exilerated now! Monday my parents helped me finish some lawn work and watched the kids so I could run out for a couple of things.  I was in and out of the market in 20 mins! ...

Well, I guess I had a blonde moment when shopping for dinner the other night.  I was tired and really didn't care what we had for dinner as long as it was quick.  I saw the packages of premade skewers ready for the grill and thought I had it all figured out. I looked at the beef kabobs and decided they were too expensive for a couple of bites of beef between pieces of assorted veggies.  I then proceeded to the chicken kabobs.  Much less expensive but boring.  We have ...

I grew up in the country and a lot of people would have categorized my family as poor when I was really young.  My parents were really young, came from poor families (by anyone's standards) and were building their own house from the ground up (literally because they built the hill that they built the house into).  We had hand-me-down or hand made clothes.  We grew a lot of our own food and lived off from canning a lot of it. I never knew what I was missing and I had a beautiful...

I don't know how my fellow JU bloggers feel about this but I am personally thankful for the option of selecting only registerd users as who can respond to my blogs.  I find for the most part that anonymous users are cowards who like to lash out from the cover of anonymity.  One of the most annoying examples of late was an anonymous who went on a post about a sick baby and responded "blah blah blah".  What is the point of that?! I am just sick of AUs coming on and spewing hate o...

The recent trend of entertainers using their venues to spread their political agendas really has me fed up.  I am not a person who is disinterested in politics, I just don't want to be bombarded by it everywhere I turn.  Everyone needs an escape from the "real world" and I am one who looks to music, movies and television for that recreational escape. I resent entertainers spoiling my retreat with their opinions on who should run our country.  I resent having my musical tastes t...

I recently discovered a couple of shows on VH1 that I am really enjoying.  The first being I Love the 90s, which has been great since I remember the 90s so well.  They talked about Clear Pepsi today which cracked me up because now we have Pepsi Edge.  We'll see if that does better than the Clear. The other show I am enjoying is A to Z.  They come up with examples of things pertaining to a famous person starting with each letter of the alphabet: example: A to Z- Jessica Sim...

I got a haircut today and it reminded me how much better I feel when I feel I look presentable.  This thought lead me to write about the Locks of Love program.  A couple of years ago my hair was quite long and I asked my stylist if I could donate it.  My salon works with the Locks of Love program and knew all of the requirements for donation. I have close realtives that have struggled with hair loss and a neighbor friend who lost her's following chemo for cancer.  These la...

One day a first grade teacher was reading the story of Chicken Little to her class.  She read the part where Chicken little runs to the farmer and yells, "The sky is falling!  The sky is falling!" She paused and asked the class "What do you think the farmer said?" One little girl raised her hand and answered, "I think he said 'Holy shit!  A talking chicken!'" The teacher was speechless for the next ten minutes.

I think having children relocated some bones and organs to less than comfy locations.  I had to be in physical therapy while pregnant with my second child due to pulling a group of muscles while putting my then 3yr old into a car seat.  I have had chronic problems since. Anyone else suffer with this?  I have some exercises that I learned from PT that help but it is always there.  My husband gives me back rubs that can allow me to be free from pain long enough to fall aslee...

I was recently made aware that it is "old fashioned" to have your child's birthday party at your home.  I am not sure when the trend began but I guess most parties are now held at Chuck E Cheese or some other child activity related place.  Our kids have been to quite a few lately.  Gymnastics and pottery places seem to be quite popular as well as swim parties at community pools. My kids are home bodies and enjoy having more control over their day.  I enjoy a more relaxed s...

My main concern in the next presidential election is national security.  I am interested in hearing what the two Johns will have to say in this respect in the months to come.  So far Senator Kerry strikes me as the teacher who is trying to be buddies with his students yet still wants respect.  It just isn't working for me and I am certain it won't work in the eyes of other nations. Whether you agree with Pres Bush or not, he takes a stand and sticks to it.  Kerry does not....

Wow, I go on vacation and come home to see all sorts of "stuff" going on here.  It looks as though Mikimouse is gone.  People are commenting left and right that things are getting nasty here.  Sir Peter declares war against the morons.  Wow! So what is the cause of all of the nastiness?  My husband says I am a calming force in his life.  Maybe I can do the same here.  I just don't even know where to start. I do see a lot of complaints regarding personal b...
