The adventures of Mommy woman

I don't know how my fellow JU bloggers feel about this but I am personally thankful for the option of selecting only registerd users as who can respond to my blogs.  I find for the most part that anonymous users are cowards who like to lash out from the cover of anonymity.  One of the most annoying examples of late was an anonymous who went on a post about a sick baby and responded "blah blah blah".  What is the point of that?!

I am just sick of AUs coming on and spewing hate or annoyance without accountability.  If you are going to call someone a nasty name or make a ludicrous claim, at least have the balls to own up to it.  I guess some people rather hide out in their little cyber realm and take pot shots to make themselves feel bigger than they really are.  I just find it sickening and do not welcome it on my blog.

I haven't had too many issues with AU's myself, but I've seen some really nasty comments on other people's threads.

I too think it a display of cowardice when someone spews forth their venomous BS under an 'anonomous' name.  It's the blogging equivalent of kicking someone when they're down and then running away.

I think I'm going to start pre-emptively utilizing the 'registered users only' option.

I haven't seen too many AU's on my site, but I have certainly seen some AU bottom feeders elsewhere. I don't know if these people are registered users who want to post anon, or if they are lurkers wanting to chime in. Personally, I was reading JoeUser articles for a few weeks before I registered, and I never commented until I had registered. I just felt that unless I was putting myself forward to that minimal degree that I had no right to offer my opinion.

Pay attention to what these "anonymous" users say....and you will often get a clue to their true identity.

I had noticed that as well.  People think that they're being smart or clever....but their writing gives them away.

Sorry, but I found some registered users just as annoying.

It depends on the topic, but I usually limit commenting to registered users. One of the main reasons is that I think some registered users here log out to make their more petty flames...

Yes, but registered users have some measure of accountability.

Yes you are right. We must all be careful about AUs and also irresponsible RUs. We have to blog sensibly without hurting others' sentiments.

Some registered users are here just for the purpose of hurting others.

If you truly have a case about one of the users here, let the admins know.  They are very good about policing the site and won't put up with griefers.

I was the victim of an anonymous writer at work once. The person had wrote a posonous letter to the higher ups about all kinds of lies that could easily be proven false. I had a suspicion who wrote it but couldn't prove it until it dawned on me that I had just recently chanched the typewriter ribbon! I unspooled it and viola! THERE IT WAS on the tape! I still can't prove down to the individual, but it does drastically narrow the field. I keep this tape rolled up on my desk so the person who did it can see it everyday and to remind myself how low down chickenshit some people can be.

I generally do not pay attention to anon's users nasty comments. Although I find it ironic that the worst comment I received was from a registered user. It led to a blacklisting, however. One time, however, this one girl wrote her name and address, her best friend's name and address. It got deleted right away because of personal information. Otherwise, I try to keep a policy that unless the user is personally attacking me or any other user on the thread, they will be blacklisted.

I had an anonymous user who was skulking around my "Song of the Day" posts (which I plan on reviving BTW). I had absolutely no qualms simply deleting the comments post-haste. If you don't have the balls to sign in you don't have the right to comment I usually feel. I have had some AU posts that were decent and on topic. I will leave them. But idiotic posts from AUs are just trash.

Hmmm, now where or where have i heard that before? Ohhh yeah, it was our good buddy Petey

Your accusation is completely unfounded and I challenge you to have a moderator compare the IP address of myself and the Anonymous user. Why can you not submit a post without mentioning me? You are just a sucker for punishment aren't you you silly little thing.

I started out allowing comments by anyone, but after a couple of nasty encounters with the anonymous hit and run types, I now only allow registered users to comment on my blog. If you are reading what I write, and you have a comment to make, fine, but let me know who you are when you make it.

That is exactly what happened in my case.  I really didn't give it any thought until it raised its ugly head on my blog.  I then noticed it all over other blogs.  It is fine if you don't mind deleting the comments or if you are one who finds them entertaining, but that is not my case.
