America's Biggest Loser is my new favorite show because I find it very inspiring.  I think it is incredibly brave for these people to get on a scale in front of the nation.  They work out at least four hours a day.  They endure temptation and humiliation.  It makes me feel much better about my own weight loss struggles. I don't really care for the "Survivor" style of having two teams compete against each other and having to vote people off.  I think they should just a...

We recently attended our school's 2nd Annual Fundraiser Ball.  Last year they raised almost $40,000!  I haven't heard yet how much they made this time but it is probably comparable. It is a formal event and this year they even had a red carpet and a Joan Rivers impersonator.  Her voice was dead on but she was a much more attractive lady.  They video taped her "interviewing" people as they entered and throughout the evening.  I bet they have some great black mail mater...

I saw a T-shirt that really made me chuckle.  I think it would make a good bumper sticker too.  It said- Prozac Because sometimes I feel like a nut and sometimes I don't

Like many people, my life has been touched by cancer.  I am not personally a cancer survivor but have had family and friends who have dealt with cancers of all sorts.  Some beat it, many didn't.  It is a constant threat lurking.  My view of the world has been touched by terrorism.  I haven't been personally attacked by a terrorist but the attacks of 9/11 sure felt personal.  Before 9/11 I thought terrorism was something that happened in other countries.  No...

An awful lot of people are behaving badly these days.  It is one thing to disagree with someone but it is unexceptable to be violent toward them or call them names.  It is no wonder so many kids have behavioral problems. If you refer to others as idiots, morons or jerks, your kids will be saying the same things about others and usually at the least opportune time.  The best behaved kids tend to come from the best behaved parents.  If you say please and thank you to your ki...

I saw a funny birthday card today.  The front had a picture of Ralph Nader and it read "Happy Birthday from President Nader".  You open the card and it says "and the Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny, And Santa Clause."

Maybe this just happens for me but every time I am flipping through channels I seem to end up catching the same part of a movie.  There are some movies that have aired on TV that I have only seen one little part of but I have seen that same one little part over and over again.  I know that one part so well that I can recognize the movie from only one or two lines of dialogue.  My hubby thinks I just watch movies all the time and doesn't believe me about this phenomenon. One ins...

I am a grateful Sam's Club shopper.  Anyone with kids can appreciate a giant bucket of fish crackers or a huge tub of peanut butter.  I enjoy buying snacks there for entertaining and you can't beat their prices on toilet paper and paper towels.  I was a bit surprised to see they now carry Segways! For $2,488 Sam's will hook you up with the high tech transporter and even give you an at-home product orientation.  This just really strikes me as funny.  What a weird count...

Remember when we used to complain that we barely got through eating our pumpkin pie before people were out the door putting up their Christmas lights?  Those were the good old days.  This year I hadn't even seen "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" before being bombarded with Christmas commercials. I had to do some last minute Halloween shopping today because our neighborhood is doing this thing called "Booing".  (For those of you unfamiliar with this, you get a bag, box or o...

I recieved this in an email from a dear friend.  I already checked it out on snopes.com so I figured I would share it.  It articulates, from a well experienced military member, the character deficiency that I loathe in Senator Kerry.  I cringe every time I hear someone say that Kerry was brave for giving his Senate testimony when he returned from the war. Here you go: Bring it on, John > by Oliver North > > August 27, 2004 > > "Of course, the president ...

I am sickened by the thought of so very many uneducated dolts deciding who will run my country.  You have to take a test in order to drive a car.  Why not have a test in order to vote?  I propose we come up with a basic knowledge requirement to be passed in order to cast a vote. I don't think an IQ test would be the way to go.  I am just asking that citizens be required to do their homework when it comes to deciding who will have control of such a powerful position.  ...

We live in such a wonderful neighborhood.  Every month I have been given new affirmation to why we moved here.  The most recent was a couple of minutes ago.  A neighbor was delivering the neighborhood directory that we ordered and mentioned that a fellow neighbor was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  She asked if I knew the family and I didn't.  When I asked why she said she was asking around to see if neighbors would be willing to cook a meal for the family in the...
