The adventures of Mommy woman

America's Biggest Loser is my new favorite show because I find it very inspiring.  I think it is incredibly brave for these people to get on a scale in front of the nation.  They work out at least four hours a day.  They endure temptation and humiliation.  It makes me feel much better about my own weight loss struggles.

I don't really care for the "Survivor" style of having two teams compete against each other and having to vote people off.  I think they should just all compete against each other equally and the trainers can determine each week who deserves to go.  But that is just my opinion.

I find it fascinating and inspiring and highly recommend it even if you dislike other "reality" shows.  This one isn't based on deceit at least.

I also found the show to be inspiring the first time I watched it until they voted someone off for only losing 5 pounds in a week (she started out weighing significantly less than the others, so 5 lbs. in a week is an incredible feat). I think the voting system stinks and diminishes the accomplishments of the contestants.

I would be amazed to lose 5 lbs. in a month, much less a week!

I had the exact opposite view of the show after a casual flip past it. I dwelled watching it for a scant five minutes, but that five minutes was the voting off portion of the show. The contestants were perhaps not as cruel as they could have been in their comments, but there seemed to be genuine resentment and spite flying between the participants.
I actually found the concept and the contestants pitiable. If these people were doing this merely to better themselves by losing the weight, that would be one thing. I think the competition for whatever the top prize is does indeed detract from the nobility of the endeavor.

However, this isn't the first review of the show that I have seen that is exactly counter to mine. I suppose if I had time I should give it another chance. At the least, I'll make sure that I pass my judgment off as just that, my personal opinion, and note that I may not have seen a representative sampling of what the show has to offer.

I think you have it right pseudo.  You didn't see the important stuff.  I think the stories behind the people and why they are there is very important and you missed that.  You saw the worst part of the show.

Seeing how hard they are working and fighting their addictions to food is what is inspiring.  The fact that they are letting it all hang out and exposing something (fat) that is greeted with disgust is inspiring.  The fact that they have committed to changing their lives is inspiring.

The more episodes I see the more I detest the part about having to vote someone off.  They have been voting off the hardest working people and I think that truly sucks.  The red team is full of assholes.  The trainer from the blue team finally gave Moe a long deserved kick in the butt.
