Mental stability is my super power.  I'm not a trophy wife, I'm not a Martha Stewart, I'm not athletic, I'm just stable...usually.  Pregnancy hormones take even that away though.  I'm left feeling like a useless blob when they kick in. I am normally an unusually level headed, logical person.  I'm usually happy unless given a good reason to become otherwise.  Not so right now.  I had an hour long cry over something that wouldn't have phased me at all normally...

I have reached the point where I can really feel the baby moving and kicking around.  It is an amazing thing since a lot of people probably can't even tell I'm pregnant but I can feel the baby moving.  There is nothing in life like it. My poor hubby is jealous because he can't feel her movements from outside yet.  Pretty soon she'll be big enough though.  She's already big enough to play soccer with my bladder and kidneys. She's a night owl like the other two were. ...

At a time when I feel my family is on top of the world, I keep hearing of tragedy after tragedy.  It is almost enough to make me think that my good fortune is at the expense of others.  I sure hope that isn't the case. First Alex's friend from school dies of cancer.  Then I learn that one of my cousins has a son who, at 16, just killed himself.  Then I hear of my cousin/aunt being found hanged by a chain in her garage.  Then we get news that one of Brad's friends had ...

When trying to post my last article I kept getting an error message telling me to try again.  I tried 4 times only to find out that it posted all 4 times.  So I went to my account to delete the extaineous copies...I can't!  Aargh!

This weekend my mom called to deliver the shocking news that my cousin/aunt was found hanged in her home.  To clarify, cousin/aunt means she is my uncle's daughter but she got taken away from him and my grandparents then adopted her making her legally my aunt (and to make things really confusing, legally her father is her brother).  Yes, I'm a hick.  There are a few "uncle, daddy, Bob" situations in my mom's side of the family. My poor cousin's life got off to a rotten start be...

I love the home I'm in right now but I, like many others I'm sure, daydream about a "dream house".  I've always wanted a pool but our backyard is too small and is also a wind tunnel.  I would also love to custom design my bathrooms and kitchen with all the new stuff they have out these days. I think the one thing a would really want would be a much bigger, well organize laundry room complete with two washers and two driers.  I saw that show about the family with 16 kids who bui...

Today has been a very relaxing day.  They kids woke up around 9:30 and went straight to playing with each other so I stayed in bed for a while.  It wasn't until about 11 when Alex came in and told me he was starting to get hungry. We all had a nice brunch together and boys took their dishes to the sink like the good boys they are.  Then it was back to playing.  They drew me some pictures and explained the stories that went with them.  Ryan still likes to sit on my lap...

I don't know about you, but when it comes to Daylight Savings, I much rather "Fall Behind" and gain an hour than Spring Ahead.  This weekend we lose a precious hour.  As if weekends aren't short enough already! I guess I need to remind myself that it means Spring is here and we will have more sunshine and light later in the day soon.  Our neighbors are already coming out of hybernation.  Our next door neighbor had a baby in November and I saw her for the first time yesterd...

My kindergartner, Ryan, got his first loose tooth this morning.  Just as I was seeing his brother off to school he came up and said "Mommy, I have a wiggle tooth".  When he smiled I could see one of his front bottom teeth jutting forward in an unnatural position.  He was beaming! His brother was good about letting me give his teeth a little tug when they wouldn't come out on their own.  Knowing this guy, he will probably yank them himself.  I think the tooth fairy wil...

It is a good thing I don't have anything more thought intensive than laundry planned for today.  I woke up feeling foggy brained.  Do you ever have one of those mornings that you just feel hazy? I went to bed with a bad sinus headache.  The weather has changed for the better which I won't complain about but any big change usually means big pain for me for a day or so.  I also had some lower back pain that was keeping me from floating off to sleep.  I usually sleep on ...

I remember quite clearly the events of March 30, 1981.  I was 11yrs old and watched in horror as footage showed our President, secret serviceman and James Brady getting shot over and over again.  The image of Brady face down in a pool of blood was burned into my brain instantly. Of course the overexposure of the video had to be made fun of and SNL was just the show to do it.  My dad, much to my mom's dismay, let us stay up and watch Saturday Night Live on occasion (he also let ...

I had the big ultrsound this morning.  Everything looks perfectly normal.  When the technician focused on the nether regions, guess what...there was something missing!  It's a girl! It was a very clear picture.  So clear that they can see the chambers and vessels of the heart.  The technician pointed everything out clearly and even did a video tape for us. I am in shock.  Ryan stated this morning that it would be a girl.  Alex still figured it would be a ...

I caught a Faith Hill and Tim McGraw video on TV while flicking channels and couldn't help thinking "Why on Earth should two people be so beautiful and talented?!"  They make singing look effortless.  They make the simple act of walking look like something I simply can't do. There are so many things I hate about my body.  Many are from my own doing but many are from genetic "gifts".  I have pale skin that simply doesn't tan.  Freckling and burning are the only things ...

I noticed in an article by a fellow female blogger that she mentioned hating sex.  This added to a long list of women I know of who at the very least feel they could live happily forever without it.  I don't get it! My best friend from childhood told her husband, after having their first baby that she couldn't have sex for 6 months rather than the truth of 6 weeks.  She told me she just doesn't enjoy sex and getting pregnant was like work.  I couldn't help but tell her she...

We are fixing up the bigger of the boys' bedrooms for them to share so we can make the other into the nursery.  They picked out the paint color, fabric for curtains and the bunkbeds!  The bunkbeds arrived today and they are soooo cool! It is actually a loft bed with an area for a bed underneath.  There are shelves and cubbies on one end and a desk on the other.  The headboard underneath has its own corkboards to display artwork created at the attached desk.  I think B...
