My days have been creeping by but I have found a bit of entertainment on TLC (The Learning Channel). The shows Baby Story and Bringing Home Baby are my two favorites and their show Surviving Motherhood is pretty good too. It has been a real comfort seeing other women go through similar things I've gone through or have difficulties that I wasn't aware may pose a problem. I watch first time moms and it reminds me of how I thought back then and how I've changed since. The third...
Many of you know that our own dharmagrl is making a kick ass baby blanket for my baby girl. She also received a hula outfit from Texas Wahine. She has a great grandma and great aunt who are quilting for her, a grandma who is knitting for her and today her nana delivered a special crocheted blanket. Lucky girl! The blanket from nana is special not only because nana finished crocheting it but a dear friend, my sister's MIL, started crocheting it years ago. That dear lady...
I am interested in others' views on replacing one's wedding ring. I am personally very old fashioned and sentimental. I can't imagine "upgrading" my wedding set. Sure, my husband could now afford to pretty much get me any kind of ring I would want. I still want the one he gave me when he asked me to marry him. To me it is a reminder of where we started. It reminds me of the dreams we had then and how far we have come together. I thought it was beautiful the...
Well I just got back from spending 11AM Friday-3PM today at the hospital. No, I didn't have the baby. I spent that time being "observed". I went to my OB checkup Friday morning and my BP was 162/92. I have a track record of preeclampsia with my first and high BP with my second so the doctor sent me to the hospital for a non stress test. I figured they would monitor me for an hour or so and send me home...wrong. I guess my consistently elivated BP along with headache...
I've been having my 7yr old niece over to play with my boys a couple times a week for the Summer. During one of her last visits she asked "Aunt Debbie, how did you get pregnant?" I told her that was a question that she really should ask her mommy. I really didn't feel it was my place to field that one! Of course Alex, my 9yr old, chimes in "It has to do with eggs and sperm." I told him that was really as far as the conversation should go. Today I took my boys sho...
My 6yr old, Ryan, can be such a sweetheart. He's a stinker a lot of the time but he is truly sweet most of the time. The other day we were just sitting on the couch and out of the blue he said "Mommy, you know why I like my lips when you kiss me? Because then your kiss goes down to my heart." Isn't that sweet? I love the way he sees things. He has a way of expressing things that are so different. It sure beats getting my kisses wiped off!
Today I thought I was just going out for lunch for my birthday. I got to the restaurant and all of the ladies from Stardock were there. I thought "What a nice birthday surprise!". I didn't even notice the pile of presents I sat right next to until I saw a little mint bag in front of me that read "Ashley Grace Wardell". These wonderful ladies gave me a baby shower! I was totally and completely surprised and delighted. They all picked out such sweet, pretty and use...
One of my requests for my birthday this year was a massage chair. Yesterday it arrived. Oh how I love that chair! It is in the bedroom right by my side of the bed. You can watch TV or listen to music while enjoying it. I gave both a try yesterday. When it first arrived I got in it for about 20 mins. My sons of course were begging me most of that time for a try. That 20 mins gave me such a boost in energy! It is amazing how much lower back pain can ...
I know everyone has opinions about this stuff so please share them. How old is too old... to have babies to have long hair to wear a bikini to go to night clubs to wear a pony tail to wear low ride jeans to play paint ball to play with Legos to be considered young?
My sister and I look a lot alike but have very different personalities. The same can be said about my sons. I find it fascinating that individuals from the same gene pool and upbringing can be so very different. At our older son's baseball game last night, my husband was noting how timid our older one is and how that is soooo not so about the younger one. Alex, the 9yr old, is a worrier. He is also extremely gentle and patient. He has always been empathetic ...
Did I NEED pretty painted toes? No. Did I need a foot, leg and back massage? Hell yeah. And I got it today for a mere well spent $30. I have a wonderful nail place near me that takes you on a walk in basis. If I had to make an appointment, it would have never happened. My boys got hot running around and riding bikes outside so I made a deal with them. They needed to be good and patient while I got a pedicure and I would in turn take them next d...
I have about 5 weeks left of pregnancy and I already feel maxed out. The way the baby is situated right now, straight up and down, I feel literally full of baby. I feel like she has been kicking stuff that's in my stomach back into my throat. I used to joke with my husband that things that grossed me out "made me throw up a little bit in my mouth". It's no joke now. I have to take Tums even when I eat Cheerios! People keep saying I don't look "that pregnant" meaning...
I didn't get Angela's permission to blog about this because I haven't gotten the chance to talk to her yet. I figured she would appreciate some well wishing though. She was in a car accident on the way home from work last night and spent the night in the hospital. I only have third hand information and hope to hear from her this afternoon or evening when she is expected to be home. The info I got came from her husband to her mom and what they said was that she was rear-ended...
Our particular elementary school is K-5. It seems to be an arbitrary process in deciding how many grades constitute school grades since some are K-4, 5-8, 9-12 or other forms of elementary, middle, Jr High and high school departmentalization. Our elementary just happens to end at 5th grade. They also happen to have a 5th grade "graduation". I was always under the impression that graduation was a celebration of achievement and of transition from child to adult. What hav...
I don't usually blog about computer related topics. My hubby does more than enough of that for the both of us I felt compelled to write about Natural Desktop though. I am one of those people who can't function when there is silence. I usually have the radio or TV going in the background when others aren't up and about making noise. Last week my boys had left Natural Desktop running on their computer and I heard wonderful sounds of birds chirping when I got up in the ...
