The adventures of Mommy woman

Did I NEED pretty painted toes?  No.  Did I need a foot, leg and back massage?  Hell yeah.  And I got it today for a mere well spent $30.

I have a wonderful nail place near me that takes you on a walk in basis.  If I had to make an appointment, it would have never happened.  My boys got hot running around and riding bikes outside so I made a deal with them.  They needed to be good and patient while I got a pedicure and I would in turn take them next door to a place called Jungle Java where they could run crazy in air conditioning and see cute babies for a couple of hours.  They were great at the nail salon so we did just that.

I think perhaps the nail technician was extra nice to me since I was in obvious pregnant agony.  I got to sit in the massage chair extra long and she gave me an extra long leg and foot massage.  I feel sooooo much better!

So now I have a much happier back and legs.  My ankles and feet are still pathetically swollen but now I have pretty painted toenails.  I am energized enough to go pitch to my boys for a while before my 9yr old has his playoff game tonight.  Maybe I will even be able to sit through the whole game without my back siezing up on me.....well, that might be a bit optimistic.

Good for you, Jill!

I don't get pedicures or my nails done often (like you, I've got the boys and it's hard to work it out logistically), but isn't it the greatest feeling?

I'm glad they took extra time with you (and that your guys cooperated, hehe). What color did you get your toes? I love the French manicure on toes, but right now I have mine sparkly pink (Adrian painted them...he's such a sweetie!).

When are you due? It's getting really close, isn't it?

You deserve that indulgence. I think they are fabulous and relaxing. I am so impressed that your boys behaved for you.

You know what is the cutest is the french with rhinestones across the big toe, only $5 extra at my salon and too cute for words.

I'm glad for you that you treated yourself. That massage thing sounds great, but I think I'd have to skip the paint.

Sometimes those little pleasures can make a huge difference.

They sure do!

I am pretty lucky.  They are good boys most of the time and they took action figures to keep themselves occupied.  They seemed a bit intrigued with the place too.

I'm due 8/5.
What color did you get your toes?
I got them dark pink (girlie).

I'll bet the massage did a world of good for you physically and the polished nails is icing on the cake. Good for you. I hope your back holds out.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks ig.

I hope your back holds out.
Thank you so much.  So far so good.  I even survived the baseball game last night.  Their team won 13-1 so they go on to the semi-finals on Wednesday...yay.

Good for you! Glad you got a little pampering for yourself, you deserve it.

Thanks Jen. Having some relief from back and leg pain sure changed my attitude. For the most part a few more weeks doesn't seem like long to wait for the baby. I am also quite aware that having the baby will bring a whole new world of challenges. I have been very lucky to have a mild weather Summer so far too.

All of these things are present in my brain but when I go too long with constant back and leg pain, all I can think is "I can't wait to not be pregnant anymore!" I think most women will agree that the last month of pregnancy can feel like the longest month of your life. Things have gone smoothly and quickly up until now and even now I am extremely thankful that everything still looks completely normal and healthy. I've just become less than thrilled with pregnancy and obsessed with the thought of having that baby in my arms.

Good for you! And that was great the nail technician gave you that massage. Sometimes some of them don't even bother to do a good job of it.

I am glad you got one of the "little things" in life that at this point makes you feel better.

But I will never understand it. I am male after all.

That's okay Dr. Guy. A lot of women chicken out of pedicures for fear of people touching their feet. They don't know what they're missing! It really was worth the $30 just to sit in the massage chair. We are supposed to shop for one of our own this weekend.
