On date night with my husband last night, we saw "Elf". I loved it! I laughed so hard I had tears a couple of times. I am with kids all day every day so had an appreciation of how well Will Ferrell captured the innocent weirdness of a child. My husband didn't think it was as funny as I, but did say it was a "put a smile on your face" movie that would probably be a new classic. If you are a sucker for the old Christmas classics like Rudolph, Frosty, and Santa Clause is Coming to Town, I th...

I haven't seen the interview with Barbara Walters yet (don't even know when it airs) but saw a bit of her talking about it to Bill O'Reilly and had to laugh. Barbara mentioned that Martha was basically a woman who "did it on her own". I give Martha a lot of credit for being self motivated and creative but not self-made . I know enough about her to know that she was an unhappy homemaker that started a catering business with a lot of help from her then husband. I laughed because ...

I have not seen The Passion of the Christ, therefore, I will not give any views regarding the movie. I would like to hear from people who have though. I am very frustrated about hearing all sorts of commentary about how antisemitic it is and then to hear at the end of the speech that the person, usually a Jewish leader, didn't actually see the movie but was basing this off from what they heard along with antisemitic things that Mel Gibson's father has said. Would a food critic write a rev...

I was flipping channels a couple days ago and came across a new show on VH1. It is called "Bands Reunited" and I am totally surprised at how much I am intrigued by it. There is something exciting about their quest to track down these band mates and try to get them to come together once again. One example was last night's episode where they were hunting down the members of Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Remember the song "Relax"). They managed to get them all together for a reunion but were una...

I know Home Improvement has been off the air for some time now (other than in repeats) but it saddened me to find out that the kindly neighbor partly hidden by the fence is now gone forever. Wilson was my favorite character. I just loved his eccentric wisdom. The thought of having a neighbor that always greeted you with a kindly "hidey-ho!" was fun and comforting. I have wonderful neighbors myself. Tim could run anything by Wilson and he would give him a bit of nonjudgemental advice. Wh...

I recently saw "The Last Samurai" with my husband and friends. It wasn't my first choice in movies because it really didn't sound like my kind of thing. I'm not the kind of girl that wants to see anything Tom Cruise is in. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Tom was pretty much as I expected but all of the other actors were at his level or higher. Even the little boy was a fantastic actor. The scenery was breath taking and the fights were incredible (gorey, but incredible). We ...

This evening I took my sons to a 6:00 movie (Kicking & Screaming).  The theatre was quite a sight.  I have to give AMC credit that they had their act together in anticipation of the midnight showings of the final Star Wars movie.  They had barracades up to form the lines for the different auditoriums, they had a grill and other refreshments availble and a large crew of overseers. So at 6:00, a full 6hrs prior to show time, there were plenty of fans lining up.  There wa...

I have seen a couple of episodes of The Swan and find the show very disturbing.  I don't mind the extreme makeover show because they are usually helping people that have real problems.  The women on The Swan don't have big problems.  They take normal women and make them into clones! They make all of these women into skinny blondes with perfect noses and big boobs.  Last episode they had two sisters compete against each other.  One was brunette and they made the other ...

My kids didn't have school today due to a teacher inservice so I took them to the SpongeBob movie.  It was the craziest thing I have ever seen!  It did have a lot of funny stuff.  It definitely held the boys' attention for the duration and the ending was the best part. If you like the show, you'll like the movie.  If you don't know anything about the show, you will be very disturbed by the movie   I saw a lot of dads there with their kids and the dads were laughing a...

America's Biggest Loser is my new favorite show because I find it very inspiring.  I think it is incredibly brave for these people to get on a scale in front of the nation.  They work out at least four hours a day.  They endure temptation and humiliation.  It makes me feel much better about my own weight loss struggles. I don't really care for the "Survivor" style of having two teams compete against each other and having to vote people off.  I think they should just a...

Maybe this just happens for me but every time I am flipping through channels I seem to end up catching the same part of a movie.  There are some movies that have aired on TV that I have only seen one little part of but I have seen that same one little part over and over again.  I know that one part so well that I can recognize the movie from only one or two lines of dialogue.  My hubby thinks I just watch movies all the time and doesn't believe me about this phenomenon. One ins...

I am one parent who is very upset with Comcast right now.  I don't even recall what they were saying in their ad but it showed a father removing an envelope with "Tooth Fairy" written on it from under his daughter's pillow as she sleeps and replacing it with a $1 bill only to go back to remove it when his wife mentions their cable or phone bill.  My 7yr old son, who is in the prime of his tooth losing career, saw this ad which ran at 7PM EST.  He said to me "See, that's proof ther...

I recently discovered a couple of shows on VH1 that I am really enjoying.  The first being I Love the 90s, which has been great since I remember the 90s so well.  They talked about Clear Pepsi today which cracked me up because now we have Pepsi Edge.  We'll see if that does better than the Clear. The other show I am enjoying is A to Z.  They come up with examples of things pertaining to a famous person starting with each letter of the alphabet: example: A to Z- Jessica Sim...

I missed Tuesday night's auditions but caught last night's auditions in Houston, TX. I think they set a new record for worst auditions ever! Paula was feeling ill and ended up leaving about half way through. All of them walked out on people at different times. Both Simon and Randy walked out on a guy and he just kept singing...terribly! It still boggles me, and I love it, that these people think they can be stars. I have taped myself singing and listened to it. I am not bad for your ave...

TV Land has this program called High School Reunion where a group of alumni having their 20th high school reunion are brought to a resort in Hawaii and drama ensues.  This show caught my attention because I am about to have my 20th reunion in a few weeks and was interested to see what issues these others my age were having. First off, these people look old!  The grey hair and wrinkles on most made me think "I don't look that old...do I?!"  I can understand why the guy whose wif...
