I have a real problem.  I spend way too much time on Facebook.  I am totally addicted....help me! The more friends I got the more I was lead to people I hadn't seen in decades.  I'm friends with my 4th grade teacher now!  I have friends all over the place.  Their pictures take me back to my childhood or bring me up to speed on what's going on now. I made a comment about missing MST3K and a friend introduced me to it's new incarnation, Cinematic Titanic.  It's ...

I for one couldn't care less what color my President's skin is.  I don't care if my President is male, female or formerly one or the other.  I don't care if my President can dance or if he/she has an attractive looking family.  I don't care if my President is "relatable" or "cool". I guess I'm funny about only caring that the President of our country will do what is best for all of us, equally.  I don't need warm and fuzzy sentiments.  I don't need talk, I need action...

I was thinking about Brandie today and noticed she hasn't been seen around here in about a month.  I know she's getting pretty close to baby time.  Does anyone know how she's doing?

My husband and I were discussing the meaning of the term "tool" as in "you're being a real tool".  I wonder how many people say stuff like that without knowing what the original meaning of the term is.  Have you ever said something and then wondered what it was truly supposed to mean? We use all sorts of abbreviations all the time too.  I wonder how many people know what RSVP means (probably only those who know French).  Everyone uses it and knows that it is asking for a r...

Last Christmas we got our oldest son a nice keyboard because he expressed an interest in learning to play.  For whatever reasons (baseball, swim lessons, etc.) we never got going on lessons.  That is changing come 11/11! I got a flier in our mailbox about a teacher that will come to your house...how perfect!  It turns out our neighbor two doors down takes lessons from her and says she's great.  I contacted her and not only are we set to start my son on lessons, I'm going t...

Here's my crew just before they headed out on Halloween.  We had fantastic weather and a good time was had by all. Don't they look great?!

Here are the red and blue jello brains.  I think they came out pretty well.  I'm done with making brains for now.  Happy Halloween!!

I had the bright idea to volunteer to make jello brains for my son's school Halloween party.  I just got a new mold that I figured I'd use for our own Halloween party.  I plan to put it on a platter with a place card that says "Abbey- normal".  I've never made a jello brain and now I'm signed on to make 4! So you have to prop the mold up in the frig and then pour the jello in.  Guess what happened...yep, I spilled purplish red jello all over everything in my frig.  Fo...

This will be one of my rambling, just feel like writing it down blogs. First off, my coffee grinder died!  This is a very big deal.  I survive mainly on coffee and have become pretty picky about it.  I'm picky about the coarsenss of grind, strength and type of creamer (my current fav is Italian Sweet Cream).  I had to resort to pre-ground coffee.  It still sure beats no coffee! I woke up with what I wouldn't call pain but more discomfort with two of my teeth. ...

If you follow the presidential race you've probably heard about "Joe the Plumber".  His question, Obama's answer and debates I've seen here on JU and in other places have lead me to the conclusion that the class warfare that is going on today leaves people with the sentiment that if you are just starting out on the American Dream then we're behind you but once you've achieved it you become a greedy bastard (unless you are in entertainment).  Work hard, save your money and you will succ...

All of the headlines are about how McCain is now running attack ads.  It is called mudslinging and is looked upon as bad...I guess.  Why is it bad though? I think that the candidates should point to each other's character.  I think who the candidates friends and mentors are is very important.  I'm sick of hearing things like, "He no longer associates with..."  Well, if they ever associated with terrorists, radicals and especially if they got money or a leg up politica...

I know it's hard to do since most people tuned into the VP debate hoping either one or the other would do well or fall on their face.  Most tuned in having plenty of preconceived notions about the nominees.  But if you can put the partisanship and expectations aside, I think you would see the outcome as more of a draw. Neither looked like a fool.  Both misspoke at times but there were no huge gaffes that I have heard of.  But people have plenty of influences in their opini...

There is so much spin around the whole bail out deal it's dizzying!  The Dems tried (and largely succeeded) to convince people that they had a deal done until McCain brought it to a screaching halt.  That has been debunked but after hearing about some of the earmarks the Dems are trying to put in their "deal", I would call McCain a hero if he had thrown a wrench in the works. One of the most scary provisions was a 20% earmark for ACORN (if you don't know what ACORN is, PLEASE e...

McCain just announced that he is postponing his campaign, most importantly, including the presidential debate slated for Friday, in order to go back to Washington and do what he can to help find a solution to the major financial crisis.  He says that he would rather lose an election than not do what he can for the country.  He just might indeed lose the election in my opinion.  What about all the people who have been planning and investing in the debate that is now hosed d...
