The adventures of Mommy woman

This will be one of my rambling, just feel like writing it down blogs.

First off, my coffee grinder died!  This is a very big deal.  I survive mainly on coffee and have become pretty picky about it.  I'm picky about the coarsenss of grind, strength and type of creamer (my current fav is Italian Sweet Cream).  I had to resort to pre-ground coffee.  It still sure beats no coffee!

I woke up with what I wouldn't call pain but more discomfort with two of my teeth.  It feels like something is stuck between them but I now can't get floss between them.  The floss snaps as if it had been cut by a razor.  Could my teeth have moved together over night and caused discomfort from pushing on each other?  I know, I have to get to the dentist.  I just have this pesky 2yr old to account for first.

We are going to the pumpkin patch tonight!  I can't wait.  Finding our pumpkins is one of my favorite yearly traditions.  Ashley will be running around rather than in a stroller this year so that will make things a lot easier.  Pushing a stroller through a pumpkin patch is no easy thing.  I saw a picture of a big jack-o-lantern eating a little one and want to attempt that one this year.

Finally, death.  It seems to be everywhere right now.  First a friend's dad lost his battle with Parkinson's, then Karma's dog, then our aunt's mother, then another friend's grandmother and now we found out a friend who has a summer place next to ours just died after collapsing into a diabetic coma!  Enough already.  This is just too much for just a couple of weeks time!

When I was a coffee drinker, there was nothing like fresh ground!  Especially Dunkin Donuts!  Alas, now that I am off Caffeine, I only drink coffee when I go out to breakfast - or to an expensive hotel!

Did you have to quit because of health reasons?  I know people with heart conditions that had to quit caffeine.  I would be a very sad lady without my coffee

There's a study that says coffee can help prevent type II diabetes and I believe it.  I got my coffee drinking "skills" from my dad.  He drinks more coffee than anyone I know.  He is the only one out of 6 sibs that doesn't have diabetes.  So I'm drinking FOR my health

Coffee grinder broke?  Why are you here blogging about it rather than out getting a new one????  LOL

I gave up coffee for awhile.  I then decided that life wasn't worth it without it.  I have so few "bad" things I can do that I need to keep one.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with the death thing.  There seems to be a lot of things that die this time of year.  I really hate Fall anymore.  I now have two dogs that died in the Fall.  Grandpa dies in the Fall.  My husband's Grandma died in the Fall.  An Aunt (Eileen) died in the fall.  I just don't like Fall anymore.

With your teeth, you probably have a swollen gum that is extended between your teeth.  I suggest taking an anti-inflammatory (like Motrin or Aleve) and see if it helps.  Probably got some food jammed up there that made it swell up as you slept.

Did you have to quit because of health reasons?

No - laziness and (well it might be health) I just could not take the caffeine any longer (I was getting too jittery).  Actually, I think it helped (the caffeine - pure speculation on my part) as 8 months after I quit, I was diagnosed with Hypertension.  It is very much under control now (my latest numbers were better than good!).  But I dont do caffeine any longer.  Bummer too!

So I'm drinking FOR my health

For all the bad news, they always seem to find some good news too!  Fortunately Diabetes does not run in my family (but then neither does hypertension).  But this sure tempts me to drink a cup now and then - just for the pleasure of it.

Coffee is very good for you however cream and sugar are not. I switched too decaf coffee a few years back but drink around 5 cups of caffeineted white tea every day and I swear by it as a wonder drug. I started drinking it 12 years ago and I haven't caught a single cold since.

I was recently witness to deaths efficiency when my Grandmother died last month. I went to CA for the funeral and the day before we called my aunt to make arrangements to pick her up and she said she'd be ready. When we got there she had gotten dressed, then sat down and died. She was less than a year short of a centurion but she was still pretty much taking care of herself. My cousins 9 year old boy got upset and said "but it's not Aunt Alice's funeral it's mema's funeral". I guess it's no secret whom he liked better.

Hypertension + caffeine would definitely be a problem.  Coffee has never given me jitters.  I'm like my dad, we can have a couple of cups of coffee and go straight to bed and fall right asleep.  We'd probably slip into a full on coma without our joe
