The adventures of Mommy woman
Published on October 19, 2004 By JillUser In Politics

During a card playing get together with some neighbor friends this weekend a couple of heated political discussions got going.  One thing that one of the teachers (pro-Kerry thanks to No Child Left Behind) said really irked me and I wanted to hear the insider perspective.  The topic was who the military wants as Commander and Chief.  She said our military wants Kerry and many others said Bush.  She said that polls only show Bush in favor with the military because our soldiers "have" to support the President.

So, my military friends our there in JU land, who do you support?  What do you think of the teacher's statement that you are pressured to say that you support the President?  I am truly curious and suspect that others would be interested too.  I have the utmost respect for our fighting men and women so I promise you that I will not say anything negative in response to any of your comments and will delete the comments of anyone who says anything disparaging toward a comment left by a member of the US military whether I agree or disagree.

(dave says...)

To be blunt, she's full of doo-doo. We can support who the hell we want.  We don't 'have' to support Bush, there is no regulation saying that we can't vote against the current Commander In Chief.  Many of us will vote for the opposition, just as many of us are happy with what we've got now and will vote for Dubya again.

Voting for Bush here.

As dharmagrl says, the military is not pressured to support any President. Clinton would be a good example of that. A super majority of the military voted for Dole.

I made a post on this subject earlier this month. It gives a brake down on a military voting poll. Link

The strange thing is that I keep hearing what your teacher friend said again and again from Democrats that I come across every day. It is a miss conception of the worse way. I would like to find what ever sort of source these people are getting this info from. I think that Michael Moors and his editing have caused many to be miss informed.

I have had two call me a liar when I have enlightened them of the percentage numbers on who the military personnel support.

I guess to them Moore has a higher credibility level then personnel actually in the military.

That's My Two Cents

PS: Also people don't like being called baby killers during a war, and then have the guy think we will vote for him to be our Commander in Chief. Loyalty and Honor are two of the Army Values (something that Kerry laks).

Her husband and I think so too Dave.

who says you HAVE to support anyone? During your military career you go through several presidents, doesn't mean you have to like any of them nor their decisions.

Since when did Soldiers become robots?

Each soldier thinks for him/herself and she is full of something what it is...well let me just say it is not good for the environment!!

I totally agree.  And I have heard that they don't appreciate Kerry referring to them as our "kids".

I was a soldier once. I voted for Perot once, and Dole the other time I was in the Army, so the person sitting in the hot seat didnt make a difference to me.

I would venture a guess that if she had said a larger percent of the military votes republican, she'd've been more accurate. perhaps thats what she meant.

My husband and i support Bush.....I'd rathar have a guy who stands up for what he feels is right than someone who changes his mind so often that we have no stability. I don't htink military families will be better off with Kerry in office.....on the field of battle OR at home....

and Dole the other time I was in the Army,

Bob Dole!

Bob Dole!

Bob Dole!

anyways, my vote is Bush this time around althought I was a Clintonista when he ran the 1st time... I am glad that I am ETS'ing soon so that even should Kerry win this one I won't have to serve under him for long. His politics are just too slimy and weak for me to stomach.

No, I don't think so either.

Bush. Being a Navy man myself, Kerry is a disgrace to the uniform. Liberals have hated the military since at least the '60's. So I hate libs.

My Dad is supporting Bush, I am supporting Badnarik, Grandfather is supporting Bush, couple of friends (mix) Badnarik, and a couple of friends (Army) Bush. I think I know of one military person that is voting for Kerry; I have not asked her who she IS voting for specfically yet so that is a tossup.
