love bumper stickers. They really say a lot about a person. Seriously. Anyone who would take the time to adhere a gummy-backed piece of paper to the back of their car, that will probably never come off in their lifetime deserves a bit of applause. I do however, question why someone would go out of their way to implore others to 'honk if you're horny!', or 'Baby on Board'. For the former: why do you want to know? For the latter: no really? I couldn't tell with the rear facing car seat, the mickey mouse blind stuck up with suction cups, or the thousand or so McDonalds Happy Meal toys on the dashboard.
But it's the bumper stickerslike the one that states 'Fundamentalists are more mental than fun', or 'I tried to child-proof the house but the kids found a way back in' that amuse the hell out of me. I don't have any bumper stickers on my own car, for the record. I've never gotten around to purchasing any, and haven't quite found the right one. But, I also think that bumper stickers have their place. Not all cars can support a bumper sticker. It'd be a shame to see a spanking new car with a sticker that read' teenage princess' on it. As far as political stickers go: umm... not for me, either.

I have one Kerry/Edwards sticker on my Honda Civic, so I fulfill one half of your observation. My other vehicle is a Jeep Cherokee that I use for farm work, and I have a Kerry/Edwards sticker on that, too. But overall, I'd have to agree with the trend you noticed.

Interesting observations Jill. I've been playing the bumper sticker game on my way into work recently. I work in downtown DC and the 3 mile commute from my apartment takes about 35 minutes--gives me lots of time to check out the other cars around me. I've noticed that cars with Kerry/Edwards don't have one sticker, they've got 2, 3, or even 5. Where as the Bush stickers are usually solo.

I drive 55 miles a day, so I see all sorts of bumper stickers.  You see more gay activist and rainbow stickers on Honda Civics than any other vehicle.

There are definitely more foreign cars with Kerry stickers on them than domestic vehicles.  I've yet to see a Cadillac with a Kerry sticker on it (but, I have seen plenty of W'04 magnets on them).  I've seen a few cars with "Pro-Life" stickers that have an Anti-Kerry sticker on it (usually the "You can't be Catholic and pro-choice").  I've seen a few cars that have the veteran license plates or a military stickers (which are a lot of times Ford or Chevy trucks) that says: "W'04  Boots or Flip-Flops?" (that one cracks me up).

I would never put a bumper sticker on my car.  It screws up the paint, and it just gives people with road rage a reason to run you off the road.

I don't and will not have bumper stickers on my cars or trucks. I do however have some magnetic "Support Our Troops" and "God Bless The USA" ribbons on both. The were given to me by a rather nice Marine Recruiter I met recently. ( I'm not Joining the Marines by the way, I already did my time with the Navy)

The bumper sticker that kinda shocked me recently said this "Abortion doesn't make you unpregnant, It makes you the mother of a dead baby".

No matter your position on the subject that's a pretty profound statement....

NickyG, I have seen some amusing bumper stickers but I really don't support anything that distracts people while driving.  I see people doing enough stupid stuff while driving without distraction.

Here in MO, the bumper sticker division line is between large trucks / suvs (W's and B&C) and economy cars (K&E).

If you boil people down like you are a unborn child, we're all just clumps of cells, how 'bout that? I would say it's a clever way of desensitizing people to humanity to justify someone elses need.

Back on topic, I was wondering if those giving out bumper sticker reports could provide a general location or a description of the area they are in (even as simple as rural or urban) to assist other readers in getting a better feel for the provided report...

Deference, I drive between metro-Detroit area (where I work) and then south of Ann Arbor (which is *very* liberal in general) during my commute.  So, I really get a huge sampling.  I also live in the country, surrounded by farms.  I never really thought about it, but farmers are typically republican.  I never really realized it until I saw about a dozen or so farms with Bush signs out front. I even saw a huge tractor with a Bush sticker on it.

good point, I live in a metropolitan area and I see far more W'04 stickers on vehicles of all types, however and this is off subject a little, I see far more Kerry yard signs when I drive through the surrounding comunities.

Here in my state, tailgating is extremely common, all those important HAFB employees...hee hee...

therefore, my favorite bumper sticker (and one that I am dying to find and buy) says

The closer you come, the slower I go!

This describes me completely. I despise people that think that I need to be pushed down a road, when I am already going 20-25 mph over the speed limit. I do slow down, and even have a tendancy to go below the speed limit. It makes them angry, and I end up laughing at them.

I find it interesting that people who support the anti-outsourcing candidate drive cars from foreign companies. I'm not really surprised though.
