The adventures of Mommy woman

It's official, I now have no respect what so ever for the Nobel Prize.  It was bad enough that they gave one to Jimmy Carter.  Now they've given one to Al Gore for Global Warming....what the hell?!

Forget the fact that Global Warming, despite popular belief, is still a theory,  (there has been nothing proven in regards to "Global Warming") all Al Gore has done is use his celebrity as ex vice president to spread the word about this theory.  What about all of these scientist that are actually gathering data and forming the theories?  Does anyone really think Al Gore came up with the theory?  Well, I guess those who believe he invented the internet would buy it.

The Nobel Prize is a joke and I'm seriously dissappointed in that fact.

My question is. How does fight against Global Warming have ANYTHING to do with peace?

Most scientists on the planet agree that global warming is a fact, not a theory.

You know Jill, as an outsider, I often wonder why some Americans don't congatulate instead of being critical of everyone who gets kudos for some achievement. As you probably know ,we South Africans have our fair share of Nobel Laureates and we are extremely proud of them. I'm generalising, of course, but I wonder whether any successful American gets a boost from his people.

Perhaps you know something we don't but a Nobel prize coming our way is always worth beating the drums for!

But do those agree that humans are responsible? NOPE.

Because he comes across as one of the largest hypocrites out there. WE should walk, ride bikes, take public transportation yet he ONLY takes his private jet everywhere he goes. Very little signs of personal conviction on his message. For me if I saw actual conviction and not this 'carbon offset' crap then I would most certainly congratulate him.

Does it matter whether it's man-made or not? What's your point?

DITTO, Jilluser....at least this year it is...

It's the Nobel Peace prize I might add. Can anyone tell us what AlGore has done in the work of climate change to promote peace? What's he done to deserve the "Peace" prize?

That most agree there is some global warming however there is little agreement as to the cause. Just adding to your comment.

I assume you're american.

Any body that can give the peace prize to a known terrorist like Yasser Arafat, can do nothing to suprise me anymore.

Because if the person that asked the question is from Europe, they somehow feel they are superior to us, for the life of me why I have no Idea.

Amen! "carbon neutral" what a load of crap!

What's he done to deserve the "Peace" prize?
Exactly!

I assume you're american.

And I assume you have nothing useful to say. What's your point? What does being American have anything to do with it? Al Gore has done nothing to promote peace yet he was awarded the peace prize. That leads me to believe in has no merit.

Excellent point!

Great question.

Most scientists on the planet agree that global warming is a fact, not a theory.

Oh really, who are these scientists and what proof do they have because opinion does not equal fact. Most people on the planet agree that there is a God, that doesn't make it a fact.

You know Jill, as an outsider, I often wonder why some Americans don't congatulate instead of being critical of everyone who gets kudos for some achievement.

I criticized two winners of the prize. How does that qualify me as never giving kudos? I give credit where credit is due. Beat the drums for whatever you like. It has nothing to do with my being American. It has everything to do with merit.

No, Scientists do not.  Many believe in the "theory", but as scientists, facts are a precious commodity that is not used lightly.  No scientist worth their salt believe it to be fact.

As for Al Gore, if indeed this was a "fact", why did the high court of the UK label the movie as political propaganda?  Citing the non-proved and unprovable statements of facts made in the movie?  Has that vast right wing conspiracy that has the US in its grip now conquered Great Britain?
