The adventures of Mommy woman
One man's "waste" is another man's "relaxation"

I often hear people say "man, that was a wasted day".  I have felt that on occasion.  To me, a day is wasted if you have spent it doing nothing that you enjoy.  If you didn't get to enjoy the company of firends and loved ones and had to spend that time doing tedious, pointless stuff (like standing in line at the DMV) it is a wasted day.  If you spend the day sick as a dog, wishing you would fall asleep and not wake up, it is a wasted day.

Any day that you got the chance to enjoy friends and family, learn something new, appreciate the world around you, is not a wasted day in my opinion.  My day so far may be a total waste in some peoples' eyes.  I slept in, made brunch for my family, enjoyed listening to my boys giggle and play, enjoyed talking to and just being with my husband and have been here on JU.  I haven't really done "anything".  I haven't really accomplished anything.  I haven't cleaned my house, exercised or did the laundry.  But I've enjoyed it.  Is it a wasted day in your opinion?

Heck no...not a wasted day by any means. In fact, I think you lived life to its fullest today. You invested time in what you enjoy and what you think is important.

I'm glad you got to spend time with your family.

Your day sounds like it was lived fully and if it was spent in laziness, what's wrong with that?

I think a wasted day is one in which ( and this will probably start the politics flying ) a person is to the point where they take their own'
life............I know that sounds bad.

I understand the "wanting to do that", just know that tomorrow can be better, so if it feels like they wasted their day, hopefully they'll
still be here to enjoy all the possibilities of tomorrow

So far I've jumped in the shower, eaten breakfast (oatmeal and waffles), been online, and have been watching some TV with my b/f. I have yet to mop, vacuum, and go to the grocery store...I guess I'll do it if I feel like it, but if I don't, I'll be okay with it. Spending time with the ones I love is no day wasted to me.

The only definition of a wasted day in my opinion is when I feel that I've worked all day at something and at the end have very little or nothing to show for it.

Days like that at work really make me mad, because I think "What the hell did I even come in for, because I'm right where I was at when I got here."

I can't consider being so sick that you can't do anything as wasted, because you really have no choice in the matter. You have to spend that time to get better, so why not make the most of it. I can't consider loafing around wasted either, because sometimes you just need that downtime.

Mr Frog beat me to it.  yes, that is a wasted day.  Spending time relaxing or with family is never wasted.  Working on something to no avail is a wasted day.

Thanks Marcie. My husband has been working totally insane hours for weeks now and it was really making depressed. I usually have to go to the office to see him. He is still working but he is here. Last night we caught up on shows we had saved on Tivo. Silly little things like watching a movie or sitting down to dinner together really make me happy. I'm a pretty simple creature

I totally know what you mean Mr. Frog and totally agree. That is one of the daunting things about trying something new. Sometimes you end up working at something new all day long only to have it fail miserably. I guess you can chalk those days up to Live and Learn.

I am with you on the tedious things, i.e. anything with city hall, DMV, permits, paperwork, paperwork...if there isn't a moment of enjoyment in it, to me, that is a wasted day.

You had a great day!

Sounds like a day well spent to me.

'Wasted' is when I run in circles all day and STILL don't accomplish what I set out to do.

I've been there!  When you get distraction after distraction and never get anything really done.
