The adventures of Mommy woman
The snow is pretty
Published on January 18, 2006 By JillUser In Blogging

I was glad to see snow when I woke up this morning.  I knew snow was in the forcast but it has been so warm I didn't think any would stick.  It had been so gloomy over the last couple of weeks that the snow is nice to see again.

Here in the Detroit area, the weather has been highly unusual.  Temps in the 40s and 50s in January!  Bare trees and green grass along with rain made it feel more like Spring but without the flowers and birds.  It wasn't a good thing other than not having to blow snow.

We have just enough snow to make it look pretty but not enough to have to shovel...perfect!  I am just hoping we don't get pounded with snow to make up for the last couple of weeks.  I wouldn't be surprised if we did though.

I am afraid we have seen all the snow we are going to down here.  Bummer!  I was looking forward to some!

I am excited about the snow as well. Scott is ice carving in the Plymouth Ice Festival on Sunday and it would not be a good thing if it was 40 degrees and raining! Hopefully the temps wont rise to much by then

I'll have to remember to check out the Ice Festival! The kids usually get a big kick out of it. Some realestate place invited to come hang out at their office and have hot chocolate during the festival. We will probably pass on that.

Yesterday and today both we've had snow drifting down, at the same time the sun was shining and for the most part the skies
were blue, and today to add to it, we had frosted looking trees and the sun and the lazy snowflakes looked absolutely
beautiful.

We did get about an inch of snow 2 nights ago and it covered up the grass and leaves.
But temps in the 30's for the last 3-4 weeks?? go figure! helps on the heating bill though.

Is this global warming? or just a fluke?

Oh good! I hope you guys go, it's a lot of fun and it shouldn't be too cold this year If you happen to go on Sunday, Scott will be there from like 9 a.m. to 3 or 4 p.m., although we'll probably hang around for a bit longer to bask in his glory if it comes out how it's supposed to! He's making some sort of a sea serpent coming down to swallow a fisherman. Hehe. Should be pretty big.

We have been having a gloomy non-winter here as well. Right before Thanksgiving we were pounded with snow, and the temps were frigid for acouple of weeks. Then right before Christmas, a warm trend hit and all the snow was gone! It has been gray and gloomy for quite some time here. I hope we get some snow soon to brighten up the place. At least the mountains are getting snow. I need a little shot of sunshine though.

I think the sunshine is the key. A little sun goes a lot further if it is bouncing of some bright white snow. It is like that right now. Helps you wake up and understand it is daytime. The gloom can throw you into a funk and leave you wondering what time of day or night it is.
