The adventures of Mommy woman
Anyone experience them?
Published on January 13, 2006 By JillUser In Health & Medicine

Anyone who has been pregnant more than once knows that every pregnancy is different just as every baby is different.  My first one I gained a lot of weight, had preeclampsia and had a doozy of a delivery.  My next two pregnancies started with feeling ill and ended with miscarriages.  The next one I felt great for the most part and had a very good birth experience.

Since things went so well last time, here I am again   This time and I am feeling well again but have a funny blemish on my chin.  It has been there for about the past 6 wks.  It is about the size of a nickle and is kind of rashy.

Anyone out there experience anything like this while pregnant?  My husband has a cousin who, in her last month of pregnancy with her 5th baby, got what she thought was poison ivy.  It turned out to be some kind of hormone induced rash.  I am hoping whatever it is I have doesn't spread and become like that!

My mom always gets a PMS zit on her chin. And lately I've been breaking out almost like I did in high school. It's very frightening. Isn't pregnancy supposed to make you "glow"? lol

I think you'll be fine. And I bet you're beautiful as always, even with a little hormonal "mishap"

With my first pregnacy, which ended in a miscarriage, I had what used to be called the "mask of pregnacy".
It was a rash that circled my face on the hairline, going around the edges. A co-worker noticed it before I knew or
even suspected I was pg

I didn't have blemishes but I had the dreaded stretch marks on my tummy. Boy did I use a lot of cocoa butter! I broke out a lot during the first trimester, I guess because my body was going through the stages accommodating the changes within me. If it doesn't itch or hurt in anyway it could just be something that will go away eventually. However if you're worried about it, or if it changes color then I suggest going to your doctor. In fact you might want to call your "nurse on call" (we have one of those with our health plan) and describe it and see what she says.

Gee, thanks Marcie!

I've heard of that. Luckily my complexion is pretty much normal except for that one spot.

I'm not really worried about it. I think it is one of those things like having your hair go dark if it was light, straight if it was curly, etc. I have another doctor appt on the 20th so I will mention it then.

I got a lot of stretch marks too. I have heard that has a lot to do with your skin type. I have very fair skin, don't tan but an proficient at stretch marks. Alex carried low so I got low stretch marks that weren't too bad. Then Ry carried high and I got stretch marks on the rest of my belly. At least everything is fully stretched out for this one

I get patches like that from dry weather.  I have one on my shoulder that has been there all winter.  Got any diaper cream with zinc in it?  If so, try some on it and it'll probably go away.  A&D ointment has so many uses....

Never thought of that. I will give it a try.

It's probably just a pimple caused from hormones!

My wife has battled adult acne all her post-teen life. To be honest, it always got worse when she got pregnant... we blamed it on messed-up hormones and that seemed to explain away her acne.

This patch you're describing seems that it doesn't exactly fit the description of a zit or a cluster of zits. Maybe it is a rash?

Another Mom, do you have a problem with me? Quit trolling my blogs. If you have something to say that you want taken seriously, register rather than remaining an anonymous troll.

I went to my appt and the Dr said it is pregnancy induced eczema and I now have patches of it on my legs too. He said I can use hydrocortisone cream to treat it. The zinc A&D ointment that Karma suggested seems to have helped a lot so I think I will keep using that. He also said it probably won't be as bad once the Winter air isn't as dry.
