Doesn't it seem like a lot of things go crazy this time of year? Cars, furnaces, etc. die at the least opportune time. You get a big snow and your snowblower quits (this happened to me last week). The test of your luck is how things work out in the end.
I haven't decided if my luck is good or just weird. Bad stuff often happens at very inopportune times but it usually ends up okay. I realize things could be a lot worse afterward but at the time I just figure, "why me?!"
Like I said, my snowblower quit on me during the first big snow, but my neighbor cleaned my drive for me. My new kitchen table started wobbling so my mom and sister were going to help me tighten it up. We went to lift it and heard a loud crunch. The base of the table broke right away! The week before Christmas! But I called the store right away and they should have a new base for me on Thurs. Could have been worse. We could have been eating Christmas dinner and had the table collapse.
Today I put up a new mirror in the bathroom. I was admiring how great it looked when I noticed some funny looking lines around the outside edge. I took Windex to it but they wouldn't come off. It looks like my new mirror is scratched from underneath the glass! So I searched for the receipt while griping to myself about having to take it back to the store. I found the receipt and discovered I hadn't even been charged for the mirror! I will still have the hassle of trying to find a replacement mirror but at least I don't have the hassle of exchanging it and I have a free mirror in the meantime. Weird eh?!
