Today really should have been a snow day but our school decided instead to only cancel PM kindergarten. Oh, but they didn't let me know until about 25mins before I was supposed to drop my son at school. I was supposed to go to a Dr appt so I then had to scramble to find someone to watch my son.
After several unsuccessful calls to friends and neighbors, my husband said I could take him to his office. I was all set to do so but was wise enough to call the Dr to see if he was running late. Well, not that the Dr's office could let me know this but the Dr was running over an hour late. The receptionist was supposed to have noted that I only had between 2 and 3:30 for my appt then I had to pick up kids from school. So I had to reschedule.
I had planned to go to the store after school but it was snowing pretty hard so my little one and I went to the store. I had to get stamps to send out the last couple of Christmas letters I had left to mail. The machine of course took my money and didn't give me the stamps so I had to go wait in the costumer service line. They gave me major grief but gave in and gave me the book of stamps.
Grocery shopping went fairly well. I was set to put away groceries before picking the kids up from school but listened to my voice messages and decided to go straight to the school. My neighbor whom I carpool with left the message that school had closed early and he was worried. That was followed by a similar message from his mother. I was sure they were wrong but went to the school just to be safe. They were wrong of course.
The school was chaos but I managed to gather up the kids I was responsible for and brought them home. Once the neighbor kids went home I figured I would have at the snow removal. My boys bundled up and went out to play and I suited up and started up the snow blower. All seemed normal except my neighbor has the same blower and it seemed to be rolling along nicely and my wasn't. He stopped over and adjusted it for me. Apparently it was set so only one tire was moving. It was really rolling...for about 2minutes. It just died. I thought it must have been out of gas so I filled it, started it right up and as soon as I tried to started blowing snow it died again!
So now I am in a tired, irritated, feeling unproductive mood. I feel like I got nothing other than grocery shopping done today and I am still exhausted. I hope they call a snow day tomorrow!
