The adventures of Mommy woman
My observations at McDonalds

There was a half day of school today so I, like many other parents, took the kids to play at McDonalds. The kids played and I sipped coffee and watched people. Watching people is one of my favorite things becasue I think it gives you incite about yourself. You see someone and think, "Am I like that? I wonder what people think of me."

The place was packed so I had a lot to observe. Observation #1 People are nice. Everyone seemed very friendly. We all got smile and laughs from seeing the kids run around with each other. #2 There are very few people that are at a healthy weight. There were either very heavy (myself included) or too thin. Out of all the people there, I think maybe 4 adults were healthy looking (weight wise). A couple of the women were almost Karen Carpenter size! Most were chubby to obese. #3 People are definitely having kids later in life. It is very difficult these days to tell if it is a mommy or grandma. I got surprised a lot when hearing the child address mommy when I was sure it was grandma. #4 Large families are definitely back. I saw one woman who had 4 boys and one well on the way. Two women with 3 girls and a boy. Five women with 2 boys and a girl and one family of 5. I was there for 1.5hrs so had a chance to ask these people "are all of them yours?" They were!

That is all for now. I really should be cleaning house right now

You are right #1 People are nice, even more so when they are treated nice. #2 It is a fact that america as a whole are unheathy because of our fast paced, fast food world. #3 When I go to school functions, dance class or soccer games ( when not working I spend most of my time ) I find that I am at least 10 years younger then most of the parents. #4 Anyone with a large family deserve a pat on the back. As a mother of two I often find it hard to do everything.

psychx, these were just observations made at one local McDs on one particular afternoon. I do tend to think that the majority of people around the entire world are nice. I never said there are no young mothers. If you don't think there are a lot of "well fed" people in NY, I think you need to look around. I am willing to bet there are big families in NY also. I don't live in a utopia but close enough to it. Our township rated 16th safest community in the nation. We chose to live here because of the excellent schools and low crime rate.

Brandy, I am also impressed by anyone who can handle more than a couple of children. I have two also and sometimes they seem like a dozen

I go to New York regularly, lots of fat people there too. Don't take my word for it though, there are obesity stats for every state in the United States.  Michigan, btw, is one of the worst for obsesity and New York, for a northern state, is pretty good but still has its share.

Judging a peoples weight habits from sitting at a McDonald's isn't fair at all. I am now returning to fitness after eating tuna and chips and then not exercising for three months. It is bad habits that cause it more than anything else. My weight is 25 lbs. over what I want to carry. I am now down 6 pounds in a week and will be in marine-type shape in thirty days. I have the will to look good, and no food will stop me from turning on a female looker at a glance. The trade off is reward enough for me and dieting from Jan to my birth in spring is my tradition.
I too like to observe humans and find them humorous. I have laughed out loud (who's that crazy man, Where are the kids?) at their behaviors many times. I love nothing more than the eyes though. One can't get a sense of the person without looking in the eye and seeing the fire, or lack therof, and that is hard to do from a side view.

The thing is, I was people watching at McDs and blogging about my observations. I wasn't stating what people are like over all (except I think people are nice over all). I used to sit in the main traffic areas at college and watch people also. Far different observations there. I still think you can learn from whatever group you are watching.

Wahtkonta: For someone who writes conspiracy theory blogs all the time you seem to have a stark intolerance for other people blogging about their real world observations.
