The adventures of Mommy woman
As an overwieght person, I am always intrigued by the latest food options out there. I am interested in the Atkin's friendly sandwiches at Subway. My husband said they are good. I am just wondering how good they are for you. Then there is McD's attempt at giving people suggestions on how to save calories when ordering meals there. One of the suggestions was to get a Big Mac without the special sauce. That may save you calories but if you are on a diet, I don't think a Big Mac is the answer no matter what you put/don't put on it.

I think that fast food value meals have a crazy amount of fat, calories and sodium no matter what you do to them. Things like salads with fat free dressing, chili, soup, or baked potatos are nice options at drive through restaurants. I know for myself, unless I am on the road and have no other choice, I am best off avoiding fast food all together.

I just heard a funny thing on the local news that I will share. Someone tapped into the frequency of the drive through at their local Burger King and proceeded to say rude things to the drive through costumers. One example was when someone ordered two Whoppers, the person said "You're too fat for two Whoppers, pull ahead!" I would be shocked if that happened to me but even the police officer had a hard time keeping a straight face describing the incident.

It's boggled my mind, knowing that places like McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King are reaching for the weight-conscious demographic. Subway, I can see, because it's not a total grease pit, but in my mind, McD's does it for the same reasons that it 'invents' the pizza menu, wraps, and McRibs. It's got nothing to do with health benefits, just financial profit. I don't know why they even bother. Well, actually I do. Once or twice, while trying to think about eating healthy, I have gotten the salad plate while my kid got the Happy Meal but I'll admit 2 things: it's a shame that I was trying to do the healthy thing while letting my kid eat the not-good-for-you meal, I regretted doing both actions. I wanted the Happy Meal all along, and should have made my kid eat the greens.
Cheers.

The problem is that if you've developed a life style where eating fast food is the way you eat--then no matter how much you try to always eat at home--you will end up with fast food. That's why those big salads are a lifesaver for me.
