pedometer

My hubby recently bought me and himself pedometers.  We have a little competition each day to see who takes the most steps.  Apparently we should take at least 10,000 steps each day.  Most days that isn't too difficult but some days we need to take a nice long walk to accomplish 10,000.

I better get off the computer and get moving!  That number on the pedometer keeps me moving and reminds me not to sit at the computer or anywhere else for too long.

I've only gotten half my steps in today!  I'm going to have to take a looooong walk or maybe hit the treadmill (boring) tonight.

Have you seen those new computer treadmill combos they are starting to put in offices?

I saw it on GMA I think a few weeks ago.  It's a slow moving treadmill fitted up to a desk with a computer and phone on it.  So while you're doing computer work, talking on the phone, etc. you're walking the whole time instead of sitting.  They did a scientific study on this  and everyone in that experimental office lost pounds as in quite a few for all of them.  They were all hooked.

One lady improvised for this at home  and took out the middle section of her kitchen table and laid it across the treadmill in the front and hooked her computer up so that it sat on the table insert and she walked away while answering her email and such.

Got me to thinking.

Too bad we couldn't have treadmill or bike powered computer...even better, TVs!  I bet it would put a major affect on obesity including Jeuvinile.

We have friends that lost lots of weight when they moved to NY simply because they walk everywhere now.  I'm in the car all the time because things are so spread out out here in the burbs.
