The adventures of Mommy woman

I am feeling blue for a couple of reasons.  A) My hubby is away on business for a week (but I can't complain)

I seem to have some sort of flu or cold that has me achy and exhausted; and C) I got a very bad hair cut.

I went to the stylist with spiral permed hair that was about to the bottom of my shoulder blades.  It was almost all one length but with long layers.  I hadn't had a trim for about 3 months so it was hard to tell I had layers at all.

I told the stylist how long it had been since I had a cut since I hadn't had a sitter and had a very busy schedule.  I told her I didn't want any length taken off and just wanted my long layers and ends cleaned up.

I'm one of those people that can almost fall asleep while getting a hair cut so I wasn't paying close attention to what she was doing.  I have (had) a lot of hair so it is hard to tell anyway.  She finished by styling my hair straight.  Apparently that's the only way my hair should be done because stylists always do that even though I quite purposely get it permed.

My hair felt a lot thinner but it looked nice the way she styled it.  She was a very nice young lady and my hair looked nice at the time so I was happy and tipped her well.  When I got home and got a good look at my hair I was in tears.  I have some kind of long mullet going on!

The only spot that might apply to the "I don't want any length taken off" instruction is one thin peak in the very back and even that is a good inch and a half shorter.  The rest of my hair is pretty much bobbed at the shoulder and tapers off to that weird long peak in the back.  All my long hair is gone!

I'm so afraid my hubby will come home and hate my hair.  I'm just beside myself.  He loves my hair long and spiral permed.  I do too.

So what would you do?  I think I will go to the salon as soon as I can manage next week and talk to whomever is in charge and tell them my story.  Obviously noone can put my hair back on but maybe they can avoid doing that to anyone else.  I know this sounds silly and vain and that it's just hair, but I think most people don't  feel good about themselves when they feel their hair doesn't look good.

To put icing on the cake, I'm two weeks away from my 20th class reunion.  I am really feeling down right now.

So, what happened when you met with the manager?

on May 08, 2008

I haven't been around JU much lately so I'm just getting back here.  The manager was great.  She took me to meet their top stylist and gave me the option of having her try to "fix" my hair right then and there or come back later.  Since I was only days away from my reunion, there really was no "later" for me so I had the stylist do what she could.  She was shocked at the mess the other stylist made and did a good job of blending things.

I'm satisfied that they did everything they could.  I'm as happy as I can be with the situation.
