Amazing how bruised one leg can be!

I had my post-op visit today and they took the stitches out. I am still amazed that I could have a huge vein yanked on a Thurs and have the stitches out the next Wed! It looks awful right now but I can see the potential. The ropey, bulgy vein is totally gone. Once the bruising is gone and the little incisions heal, I will be a happy girl.

The Dr said that on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the worst bruising he had ever seen, I was a 7.5. I had a monster vein taken out and I bruise pretty easily. I am very light complected so any color really stands out. He said in about 2-3 weeks I should be all healed up. The body is quite amazing.

I still get amazed at the healing powers the body has. I had a very difficult birth with my first son and thought I was ruined forever. 6 weeks later I was healed up. Had my gall bladder out. They didn't even have to replace it with anything and I am fine. You can even regenerate about a half of your liver!

I am also amazed by the improvements in surgery. When my Grandma had her gall bladder out, she got the nice huge incision. I got mine out years later and have 4 little spots. Grandpa had vericose vein "stripping", years later, I have an outpatient procedure that won't even be detectable in a few weeks. I didn't even need pain pills. Amazing!

It's amazing how long a bruise can last, though. Luckily, legs usually heal pretty quickly. I usually don't get comments on bruising because they are typically too interested in the keloid scar tissue that I grow. Gotta' love this skin I have!

Glad that it all turned out well!

I had the vein taken out of my leg that goes from my balls too my ankle. It was the major vein but concerns over bloodclots and strokes forced the doctor to yank it out as the valves that keep the blood from going back down and building up had all been broke. It is funny because the doctor told me it was one of the most painful pains you could have, but I have had Fibromyalgia for several years so the pain wasn't that bad. I do sympathize with you and understand how you must feel. The socialogical aspects of having Chronic Pain are fierce and usually unfair to those who suffer. Basically since they still don't understand the cause of it. We are treated like fakers and junkies by some doctors who don't have specialized degrees in pain. I am made to feel like a bumb because I can't hardly stand to work for more than 4-6 hours at a time. On one hand I want everyone to be wracked with the pain we suffer for just one day. After 75% of them pass out or vomit from the intense pain and are psychologically consumed with only the thoughts of said pain. But on the other hand I wouldn't wish this crap on anyone, or any pain for that matter.
