The adventures of Mommy woman
Published on July 2, 2004 By JillUser In Just Hanging Out

Hi all.  Don't know if you noticed but I have been pretty scarce around here lately.  We finished school, have been crazy busy with Summer parties, baseball and just got back from a week long vacation.  Time is flying and I can't believe it is July!

We are having a 4th of July get together, my son's birthday is coming up, my birthday is coming up and we have something booked for every single weekend until school starts on Aug 30!  Whatever happened to those Summers that seemed to last forever?  I remember those from my childhood and just can't seem to figure out the time control device that caused it

My kids and hubby are tan and I am freckled and rashy (allergic to the sun).  I am not as freckled as most redheads get though.  My dad and I always joke that the only way we look tan is if we get enough freckles for them to all touch.

I am truly enjoying the Summer so far and hope you all are too.  I love having all the kids around for my kids to play with.  I love waking up to sunshine and going to bed to warm nights with cool breezes.  The kids run and swim and play all day and sleep very well into the morning.

I can't imagine it at the moment, but somehow I always feel ready for school to start again in the Fall.  I love the changing seasons here in Michigan.  At some point at the end of Summer I will get sick of constantly watering everything.  I will get sick of constantly slathering sun lotion on everyone.  I will start longing for cooler weather and shorter days.........but not yet!

I made the mistake of having my window open in my car on the way home yesterday- now I have a sun rash on my left arm.  I would *die* if I lived in a state that was sunny year round.  I would be one big puffy mess of rash.....sunburned rash.....

I do like the summer, though.  It seems to go too fast, though.

Larry Block talked about that in one of his novels ("In the Midst of Darkness"?). The character said it made sense because a season to a child is a large chunk of her life, but a season to an adult is a significantly smaller (and ever lessening) percentage of an adult's life. Thus a mystery writer solves the mystery of why time speeds up as you get older! Way to go, Larry!

Fall's my favorite season. Unfortunately we don't really experience it here. Darn desert.

Ugh. My mom does that all the time. I keep telling her to wear sunscreen, but no.... She has one white arm and one brown arm.

Whoops. I think I'm hijacking the thread.

Um, Welcome Back, Jill!

Don't move to Colorado. I think we get something like 300+ sunny days a year. My celtic/germanic blood doesn't really like the sun much, so I end up spending a small fortune on sunscreen,

I would be OK with that.  But, sunscreen actually aggravates sun rash.  So, you don't tan, you just burn and get all itchy.  Stupid glowing white skin!  I get freckles though- yay.....

Trin, thanks for noticing!

Karma, I think I would spontaneously combust around August in any state that was hot all year round.

I slathered myself with SPF 30 or higher constantly on vacation and still got burnt and rashy.  I totally envy these people who can be out in the sun, put sunscreen on once and end up all nice and evenly tanned.  I get freckles here, burn there, rash over here and maybe a little tan on my hands and feet.  At least I can take comfort in knowing my face isn't as wrinkles as a lot of the sun worshipers my age.

Yes, we noticed you weren't around, and you were missed! Glad you're having such a good summer, though!

I was wondering where you had faded off to.

Glad you're back- Sort of.

I've been wondering where you were at too! I just figured it was the life of a busy woman interferring with a blogging addiction.
Missed you!
