I have a theory about why people use drugs: They are trying to return to their days of childhood TV shows. Have you ever seen the show "Yo Yo Gabba Gabba"? What a trip! It looks like something right out of the late 60s or early 70s. It totally reminded me of how "groovy" some of the shows I watched as a small child were (like the Electric Company).

Is it just me or do people in the Walmart parking lot TRY to kill you? I haven't been to a Walmart in ages but I saw that they had a nice but cheap play kitchen that I wanted to get for Ashley for Christmas. I had some shopping to do at their partner store, Sam's Club, so I ventured in today. Yikes! I'm amazed I got to and from the car alive! People were not only driving dangerously but they were doing so fast.
Sam's Club isn't the safest place either but they tend to be a little slower moving. But just when I was leaving and got to the car with a very "people suck" attitude, three different people offered to help me get my purchases into my car. Much different from the last time when I was only approached by someone claiming to need a couple of dollars for gas to get 50 miles home.

I need a new dentist. I just went in and had him fix one filling that he had screwed up prior to my having the baby and then I needed (according to him) one new filling and a tooth sealed. I didn't have any tooth pain before but I sure do now! He's a crochety old coot who still uses tools called chisels and hatchets!

A simple "I'm sorry" can go a long way. My Sunday was spent at our local Urgent Care. My poor baby girl was writhing on the floor in agony and had a 103.1 degree temp. They only had one doctor when we arrived and they warned us it might be a long wait but they had called in two more doctors and were optimistic that things would pick up speed (one more doctor got there as I was leaving).
They sent a nurse right out to take Ashley's temp and then gave her some Tylenol for the wait. We ended up waiting just over 2 hrs. They kept checking on us, apologizing and they even checked other area urgent cares to see if the wait was shorter.....they weren't.
We saw the doc for about 2 mins before she figured out we had a double ear infection on our hands. I could moan about how they could have just had the nurse look in her ears but there probably some procedures that are regulated by insurance companies that prevent it. But they seemed genuinely apologetic so I feel satisfied with the experience.

People ask me all the time "So, what have you been up to?" and I always blank and say "Oh, just taking care of the kids". I do so many things every day but it sounds like I just hang around with the kids. Here are some example of things I'm up to:
Preparing envelopes for Christmas letters
Tracking down people for my 20th class reunion
Nursing a baby back to health which includes dosing her with Tylenol, Motrin and antibiotics every time I turn around
Estate planning
Still taking care of Payroll for the company
Christmas and birthday shopping and planning and decorating and cleaning and cooking
Giving family gift ideas for everyone then trying to come up with something once all of my ideas have been given away
Solving the ever present "What's for dinner?" question
Fighting the unwinnable war against laundry
Work out with a trainer twice a week as well as doing cardio as many other times a week as I can manage (which is far more difficult than it sounds when you have 3 kids)
Trying to read and exercise my brain as to not atrophy completely away and become one of those women who can only converse about their kids, food, or bodily functions
Does that sound like I do things? I hope so because it sure feels like I keep busy.
Oh, and I blog
