The adventures of Mommy woman

I think most people dial a phone number with very little effort or attention.  I want to bring it to everyone's attention that it is always an obscene hour somewhere on the planet and you could really apply undo stress by dialing a wrong number.  Please be sure what you are dialing.

What inspired this cautionary note?  I was in a very deep sleep when awoken at 4AM by the ringing of my bed side phone.  My brain instantly thinks "Oh dear God!  Who died?!" when the phone rings at such and insane time.  It turned out to be a wrong number but I was left with a panicked feeling and had difficulty settling back down.  I have felt like total crap the entire day thus far.

One misdial can really start your day off on the wrong foot long before it is due to begin.  Every call I have ever gotten in the middle of the night or early morning (before 7AM) has been horrible news.  I think a lot of people share that conditioning.

So I ask all of you, be careful when you dial.

It is something of an Army tradition to get drunk and intentionally call your friends at ungodly hours. If they are unlucky enough to be *working* while you are out on the town it is considered even more of an imperative.

Man, you guys are mean!!!  Wow...I thought I had met some jackasses in the AF, but they're nothing compared to you guys...!  I mean that in the nicest possible way, greywar, you know I love you really!

Jill, I too hate the phone call in the night.  It either means someone is dead, or hurt, or Lonsome has to go into work - which means that someone's dead or hurt or in a lot of trouble!  I don't think we've ever received a call in the night that was good news.

Geez- 'wrong number' calls are annoying ANYTIME... especially when youre waiting for someone important to call

Greywar, I guess if I had friends like you, I wouldn't be as panicked by the 4AM call.

Dharma, sounds like you understand where I'm coming from here.  Not like we ever get a 4AM call from the sweepstakes saying we won a million dollars

BTW, if there are any sweepstakes people reading this, feel free to call at any hour
