The adventures of Mommy woman

My baby girl has been keeping me up during some very low times lately.  No matter how sad I'm feeling, one look at her smile and it warms me back up.  She reminds me that there can always be happiness even when it doesn't seem possible.

She reminds me that I am needed and important.  She needs me to feed her, change her, comfort her and sometimes just smile at her.  She reminds me that dreams really can come true and that we need to be thankful when they do.

Don't get me wrong, my boys remind me of these things too but she's the newest reminder.  I am so fortunate to have three beautiful children to love and be loved by.  They're what it's all about.

I am always astounded at how easily the smile of a child can ilicit a similar response in a parent who, before that child's smile, sad or miserable or just plain blue.  It always, always works for me, and sometimes it doesn't even have to be my own child who smiles at me.  I get a similar reaction when infants smile at me - that gummy grin they have is just a wonderful thing.  I'm smiling just thinking about it.

My kids know that they have that kind of power, and as yet they have only ever used it for good.  I wonder sometimes how I would have fared during Dave's many deployments had I not had my kids around.  I don't know how childless couples do it; how they manage the stress of separations without children to love and comfort, and, in turn, be loved and comforted by.

Your little angel sounds like she's growing nicely!  I would love to see some photos of her if you ever have the time!

Very sweet. Why can't they stay tiny babies longer? I love my boys at the ages they're at now but I do miss that baby stage. Back before they could talk back or throw trash on the floor or ask for everything they have ever seen on TV. Enjoy every minute with her. I just want to squeeze her over the computer.

Exactly. Sometimes that's all that gets me through.

Yep, that's what is important! There'll be days like that (from my own memories) and just one look will have you melting all over and happy to have them all!
