The adventures of Mommy woman

We had a beautiful, windy Spring day so we took the "Monster Truck" kite to the park for a fly. It was pretty dodgy at first, then my hubby got it way up there and it flew nicely for quite some time. The gusts got up around 50miles/hr which made for some spectacular crashes.

All the little boys around joined our boys in chasing after the wild kite. It would soar and then crash. They would take turns running to flip the kite back over so it could take off again. They loved our silly truck with wings.

Just as my husband was commenting on how he wished he had worn gloves, I got string burn. Just as I commented on how the kite would be totally gone if the string broke, it did. Luckily, it hit a landscape barrier and got stuck. I was able to retrieve it but we decided to not take it back for another run until it was a little less gusty.

It always amazes me how something so simple, so timeless can be so entertaining. I highly recommend kite flying to anyone. Don't worry if you don't have a child. It is fun for kids of all ages.

My dad and brother have recently gotten itno model airplanes. My mother accuses us of all being little kids. She doesn't know how right she is. I think too many people who grow up forget how to play.

I'm just glad that my wife and I both like toys.

Never give up on playing Mr Frog! I think being called a kid is a compliment. What better way to live than being in constant awe of your surroundings? Playing in the sand or building Legos are good therapy. Too many people lose track of the simple pleasures.

Awesome! My littlest boy loves monster trucks and I've never seen one of those. They're so fun too. Hopefully you got it at a WalMart or Toys "R" Us.

Actually I got it at Sam's Club but they are partners with WalMart, aren't they? It is the sturdiest kite I have ever had. Like I said, it had some spectacular crashes.

Funnily enough, my son won a nylon stunt kite in a contest at school, and we took it out and flew it yesterday afternoon. It was kind of comical - I didn't feel well, but was designated as the runner/thrower. There I was, jogging along, tossing this kite into the air only to watch it crash. We finally got it up and flying, and sat there for a half hour or so, just me and Davey and a kite on a string.

Good times...really good times.

I used to do competitive kite flying...I have a ton of stunt kites and it's been fun teaching the kids how to fly one. One of mine is a 6 foot wing. Kind of like a paraglider. One day I was teaching my youngest, 9 at the time, how to control it. A gust of wind came up and lifted him off the ground. Scared the crud out of me, but my son thought it was the 'coolest'. Kite flying is fabulous family fun.

I used to fly kites a lot as a kid.  My husband and my daughter fly kites a lot.  We live in the country so there are a lot of days that work well for flying a kite.  They will spend hours out there just seeing how high they can get the thing to fly.
