The adventures of Mommy woman
Published on June 6, 2006 By JillUser In Misc

My home is filled with toys.  I have two young sons and a husband who is very in touch with his inner child.  There are baseball gloves (3 of them), legos, action figures and star wars toys everywhere!

All three boys (that is including my husband) have comic books everywhere.  All three play computer games.  I think the only things the boys play with that Brad doesn't are the stuffed animals and pokemon cards.  He's right in there on the rest of the toys though.

This all makes me wonder what it will be like to have a girl in the mix.  Will she just want to play with the stuff her brothers and dad had?  Will she play with my barbie house and dolls (if any of them have heads and limbs left once her brothers are done with them)?  Will she like baby dolls and playing house like I did?

Right now the house is guy land.  My next door neighbor has two girls so I told him we might have to take refuge in each other's houses from time to time.  I'm not sure why I ever thought my husband would outgrow the Star Wars figures or legos.  I should have known better.  Oh well, that is one of the fun things about having kids.  You get to break out all of your old toys and have a legitimate excuse for playing with them again.

Comic books?  My son calls them Graphic novels.

And I thought this was going to be about all the hot men in your life (boy toys?).  But yes, you are experiencing first hand the maxim that that the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.

We never grow out of legos, and star wars figures are really cool!  Just ask Zoomba and his Lego Star Destroyer set.

Ah yes, Legos and Star Wars together.  I don't think we have the star destroyer but I do know we have Boba Fett ship because I helped put it together.  We also have a Lego Star Wars Lava planet set.  Lord only knows how many Lego pieces are in this house!

My son calls them Graphic novels.
My guys always correct me and call them graphic novels too.  I think they alone are keeping our local comic book store in business.  Superman, spiderman, x-men, you name it, they read it.  Heaven forbid we ever part with one of their "graphic novels"!  We are bursting at the seams here.  We will have to build wall-to-wall book cases to house all of them soon.

Heaven forbid is right!  Those things grow in value, so when your sons grow up, they may pay for their first house!  My mother threw all of mine out.  She is not proud of that fact now.

I am sure my mom can relate as she had three boys. My mom threw out football cards. Among those cards was a Terry Bradshaw rookie year in mint condition. But I don't blame her for doing so. Thanks for sharing .

You have the opposite perspective I did for years, Jill. For many years, I lived in what Bill Engvall once referred to as the "naked Barbie Woodstock". Four girls and more baby dolls than the population of several small countries. Fortunately, Quinn has brought about balance. Believe it or not, one VERY boyish boy can balance out four girls pretty quickly!

Be prepared for her to want her brothers toys and have her moments of tom-boyishness. My youngest always wants her older brother toys and gets a thrill out of playing with them.

Will she play with my barbie house and dolls

I'm glad to see that you have your own toys are are also in touch with your own "inner child" (God I've always hated that phrase!).
