The adventures of Mommy woman

I finally have a free minute so I thought I would write down a quick synopsis of our TX trip for those of you interested.

On 4/27 we headed to Dallas. Everything went very well. My hubby had the forethought to rent a car with GPS...Thank god!! Dallas highways are crazy!

We stayed at the Hilton Suites North Dallas which was right across the street from the Galleria Mall. That turned out to be a most excellent feature of our stay. Or first night we got settled into the room and headed across to the mall to have dinner at a Tex-Mex place with a view of the ice skating rink.

4/28 we had breakfast, walked around the neighborhood my husband had lived in as a child and then headed over to dna Productions to visit our good friend who is currently working on the movie "The Ant Bully". dna Productions are the makers of Jimmy Neutron also. We got a full tour, met lots of interesting people and got a look at some Ant Bully posters and animation that you guys won't be seeing for a little while yet. Alex was in heaven!

4/29 we visited with Brad's friend from high school and his family. We got to see their nice home, enjoy their cute daughter and got a tour of the very neat little town of Grapevine. They even treated us to some really good deep dish pizza. It was a very nice day that ended with a frolic in the hotel pool.

4/30 we visited with my husband's childhood friends who lived next door when he lived in the Dallas area. They took us for a nature walk and had a yummy lunch. We were then off to visit with some other family friends. Then it was back to the hotel to pack up and get some sleep.

5/1 we headed to South Padre Island. The flights to Houston and then on to Brownsville went well even though others suggested possible hiccups due to the immigrant worker walkout that day. Even though we were right on the border, it made no baring on our trip whatsoever. We got settled in at the Sheraton, had some dinner, then it was feet up with the TV for me and crab hunting for the boys.

5/2 we slept in, had room service for breakfast, then spent the entire day on the beach or poolside. Now that's what I call vacation!

5/3-5/5 pretty much the same as 5/2 with dinner at different nice restaurants on the island each night.

5/6 we got up and were off to the airport on time only to discover our flight was canceled due to weather and there was no way to get back to Detroit that day. Brad made new flight arrangements for the next day, arrangements to keep the car for another day and I got us a hotel room. We ended up with a screaming baby next door, a wedding reception right below us and a 6:30AM flight the next morning!

5/7 happy to be home! 15minutes after arrival I had to drop Ryan at a bday party, get groceries, make dinner for Brad and Alex, pick up Ry and start laundry....vacation was most definitely over!

I have been going nonstop until just now. I just got a call that baseball practice tonight and the game in the morning are both rained out so it looks like I might get a relaxing Mother's Day weekend. I pick Brad up from the airport tonight! Things are looking up!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!

This sounds like a fun vacation. Especially the mall, pool, and friends. The ant bully sounds fun too. I'm glad you are relaxing. Happy Mothers day!

Thanks Kelly. I've had a pretty good Mother's day weekend too. My parents watched the kids so Brad and I could go out to dinner with friends Saturday night and then we all went to brunch this morning. My MIL then came over later in the afternoon and we had a nice visit and dinner. It's only 7:30 now and I feel like going to bed!

Sounds like a nice, RESTFUL time for you both,

Our time in SPI was possibly the most restful time we have ever had. I miss it! This Saturday was pretty restful but it looks like from here on out for about the next few years might be less than restful.

Our boys have baseball practices or games every day except Thursday and Sunday and even then we might have some makeup games on those days since it won't stop raining here. They have that schedule until mid July along with all the other Summer craziness. Once baseball is over I will have a couple of weeks (hopefully) to get prepared for the baby. Then, as we all know, I can kiss sleep goodbye for a good long while.

I wouldn't have life any other way though.

thanks LW. I hope you are healing up in every way possible.
