The adventures of Mommy woman

Some random things that puzzle me:

What is the deal with people who fill their cars with stuffed animals?

Why do some guys wear their shorts outside of their sweatpants? (I can understand sweats over shorts. You could then take your sweats off when you get too hot.)

Who are the sadistic people who design roads that either merge with absolutely no warning or just become another road?

Why is it that some toys actually cost less than the batteries they require?

And the last one that I am way too familiar with,

Why is it that 3yr olds are only interested in their toys when someone else wants to play with them?!

I'd have to say that I have no idea, but I know what you're talking about...and last one doesn't change as they get older, either. I have 3 that fight over toys that have been laying in the chest , unused, for months...until someone pulls it out and then all of a sudden ownership becomes a huge issue.

I'll answer them all...

"What is the deal with people who fill their cars with stuffed animals?" Stuffed animals comfort people. My sister has had three traffic violations because she doesn't have stuffed animals.

"Why do some guys wear their shorts outside of their sweatpants? (I can understand sweats over shorts. You could then take your sweats off when you get too hot.)" those "under" pants are to "strengthen" their legs and the shorts are cooler than trying to run in sweats.

"Who are the sadistic people who design roads that either merge with absolutely no warning or just become another road?" Oh yeah, that's my dad and his boss.

"Why is it that some toys actually cost less than the batteries they require?" Marketing and profits. It doesn't really matter what price the toys are. The less they cost the more people buy and then if it's a good toy it's used a lot so you buy more batteries than with something that is low quality re-chargeable.

"And the last one that I am way too familiar with,

Why is it that 3yr olds are only interested in their toys when someone else wants to play with them?!" Duh, because it's not fair if someone else gets to play with something cooler than you if that something cooler happens to be yours, or WAS yours.

Your welcome. I'm glad I could answer all of your problems.

I am pretty adamant when I tell people who want to buy my daughter toy presents, "we don't want anything that needs batteries." Now, that's not entirely true; she loves em, I don't. Invariably, toys that need batteries are loud and annoying. Whoever invented Rock n Roll Elmo, should be shot... she got him as a gift 3 years ago and that damned thing still works. I've been trying to pass him off to my neice for some time now, and meet up with another one of your points... it's mine. She doesn't want to give stuff away, even though it is clear she wouldn't play with them now, either.

What is the deal with people who go to full-service gas stations, but end up having to go in and pay on debit card? Isn't the reason why you use full-service stations is because you are too damned lazy to get out of your car? There really can't be that many people out there who don't know how to fill up their own vehicle, can there?

You have full service gas stations still, Nicky? Oh wow!!! I don't think I've seen one of those in......8 1/2 years, since we moved up here! I'm sure there are some around, I just have come across them yet.

Jake had a Tickle Me Elmo...cute the first 50 or so times, and then just downright irritating thereafter. I got lucky though - Jake decided he was going to share the tub with Elmo, and that was that.

One of my pet peeves is the design of highways where the on ramp comes right before the off ramp, forcing cars to crisscross. Why can't you allow cars to exit first, thereby clearing the right lane?

We have one of those where I live, and it's an absolute nightmare to navigate. I often wonder if the person that designed it was stoned or inebriated when they did so. That particular stretch of interstate causes more delays than any other part of town.

When i went to the desert last year, I bought little stuffed camels for all the youngins in my family. Each camel has a little 'button' on it that can be pushed to make noise. But it wasn't just any noise, mind you... we're talking about the most annoying thing you've ever heard in your life... yup... little children chanting loudly in Arabic. Top That!

Ain't I a great Uncle & Cousin?

I'll bet my sister and my aunt are STILL going crazy!

Are you and Jillteacher some how related?

Camels that scream in Arabic? I am surprised you haven't been murdered yet Whenever we hear a noisy toy, we know either a grandparent or relative got it for them.

When my first guy was really little, say 18months, we would tell him "too broken" when an annoying toy would run out of batteries. He learned "needs new batteries" soon after. I think the people who design loud, battery operated toys with no off switch should be strung up by their toenails!

Larry, Dharma, I'm with you. We have a lot of those in the Detroit area.

NickyG, I don't think I have seen a full service staion in about a decade. Good point though.

I saw a full service g.s. about a year ago. I wanted to stop at it but my dad said that full service is not as good as it sounds so he kept going.

I don't think so.

There are two that I find more annoying than that:
1) Left hand interchanges.  Nothing better than a semi in the left going 50 in a 70 because the interchange is a mile ahead
2) Merges on the right with lane ending on the left.  Really slow on right- people in middle dodging fast moving idiots on left and too slow of people on right.  Too fast people on left having to cut in t very last minute because the people who are driving in the "correct" spot have to slam on their brakes to allow the "too fast" people to cut them off.

But, I'm not bitter...not bitter at all.

pychx, I think that JillTeacher was inspired by my username and the fact that she is a teacher. We are not related though.
