The adventures of Mommy woman

What a nice way to end the day.  A cup of wonderful tea delivered to me a while back from a friend in the UK (who better to get tea from?), a valentine cookie made for me by my mom, and a bit of blogging on JU.  And it is almost that magical time of evening I call "bedtime for the boys".

I can breathe a sigh of relief once the boys are nestled safely in bed.  One more day I kept them alive   After all, that is the main job for mothers of boys, isn't it?

Monday was kind of a haze due to a bad sinus headache all day.  I can't take my sinus meds (not agreeable to baby apparently) so I had to suffer through.  Breathing in hot tea is nice though.

The boys usually sleep well Monday nights since they have ice skating lessons Monday evenings.  Ryan says he loves skating he just doesn't like the falling part.  Wise young man   Neither of them like skating backward.  Can't say I blame them.

Looks like another cold night here in MI so we will bundle up for our nighty night.  Hope all of you out there had a favorable Monday and have a lovely Valentines Day tomorrow.  The boys are very excited about their class parties.  I'll be happy as long as I don't wake up with another sinus headache.

Now, pardon me, I've got to get back to putting the bars on the windows of my daughter's room. She's growing a little too fast and I need to be ready for when she starts dating ... in 10 years.

Best of luck with that! The thought of dealing with a teen girl is scarier to me than dealing with the boys. But then again, I was a teen girl and didn't have brothers. It just seems like boys are a little less complicated.

Oh, much less complicated. I've seen that much in the 4 years the little lady has been running the household.

I have been feeling really good Jen. Thanks for asking. I am out of the exhausting, fear filled first trimester and headed on in to the second. I am not exhausted like in the first 3 months and I feel a little more at ease knowing that I am past the period when the vast majority of miscarriages happen.

Glad to hear it!

Plus, I got to see the little tike on ultrasound

Oh wow! Very exciting! I can't remember if I've already asked you, but are you going to find out the sex of the baby, or be surprised?

There are enough surprises involved in child birth. We will be finding out the sex as soon as we possibly can.

They are. Boys will get mad, punch each other, and then make up 5 mins later. Girls will get mad, slam doors, stew for a bit, slam more doors, stew some more, act sullen at the dinner table and on family outings, and then will cry for no (seemingly) good reason at all. Then, after an hour of coaxing, they'll tell you what's wrong.

Give me a boy who will punch things and yell any day. Much, much easier.

Jill, my mom has the same kind of thing as you. They did a 'roto-rooter' on her sinuses a while ago and she's been incredibly thankful that they did ever since, it's made such a difference. Man, that has to suck, not being able to take anything for it. When I was pregnant with jake I got a lot of migraines, and they ended up giving me narcotics to take at home because they were safer than any other drug.

Wow, you're in the second trimester already? I need to start knitting!! Are you starting to show yet? with Jake I started to show at about 14 weeks. They have much cooler maternity clothes now; when I had my kids sailor collars and shirts with big bows were all the rage. Now you can actually get maternity bootcut jeans! Very cool!

I don't know if anyone else can tell but I can tell the difference in the way my pants fit. I will probably be doing some maternity shopping within the next week. They do have much cooler maternity clothes now. One nice thing about Summer pregnancy is you can get some nice, loose sun dresses and live in them. That's what I did with Ry. They weren't even maternity dresses so I wore them for quite a while after having him too.

That sounds like what they did to my dad. He had a very bad experience and it only made a temporary difference for him. I am not willing to risk it. Under normal circumstances I can manage it pretty well.

I have to second Dharma's and Chaos' comments on boys, and Chaos wil learn soon enough about girls! I am glad one of my sons has made it through the minefield of adolescence with only a few scars!  One more to go!  And the girls?  After 4 sisters and 2 daughters, I still dont understand them!
