(even though it is wrong) that they have to take what they need there is more of them in prison. Obviously people like you are the reason they feel that way. PEOPLE LIKE ME IS THE REASON THEY FEEL THAT WAY?? DO YOU MEAN THAT AN INTELLIGENT WOMAN WHO WORKS FULL TIME TO HELP SUPPORT HER FAMILY IS THE REASON WHY A CERTAIN RACE FEELS LIKE THEY HAVE TO TAKE WHAT THEY NEED BECAUSE THEY CAN'T BUY IT??? OKAYYYY. Try to be a better person, and maybe a black person will learn not all white people see them as the enemy. IN MY LINE OF WORK, I HAVE LABORED DILIGENTLY TO DELIVER EXCELLENT NURSING CARE TO ALL RACES AND PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE. I ONCE PERFORMED CPR FOR 20 MINUTES UNTIL AN EMS CREW ARRIVED, THEN I ASSISTED THE EMS CREW FOR ANOTHER 30 MINUTES IN ORDER TO SAVE AN INMATE'S LIFE WHO'D OVERDOSED ON COCAINE THAT'D BEEN DELIVERED TO HIM. WHAT WAS HIS RACE?? HE WAS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN. I'M A WONDERFUL PERSON, THANK YOU. Black people think that 80 percent of white people are racist, and people like you prove them right. AT WHAT POINT DID I EVER GIVE AN OPINION THAT LED YOU TO BELIEVE THAT I'M RACIST?? DID I SAY "I THINK THE POLICE SHOULD BEAT ALL OF THE BLACK FOLKS"...NO, I NEVER DID. Could it be that they feel that way because of that pesky little slavery issue? I am sure if there were more black owned corporations and more black lobbiest there would be less black criminals, and by the way I don't think the police did anything wrong either, and it had nothing to do with my thoughts on who's or whos black, or whos white. It is whos right, and who's wrong. I am sorry your husband was hurt but, if he is anything like you seem to be it is no wonder. MY HUSBAND IS EXACTLY LIKE ME. HE'S A HARD WORKER, AND HE TREATS PEOPLE FAIRLY. I'M SORRY HE WAS HURT, AS WELL. THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN, BUT HE'S DOING FINE EVEN THOUGH THE INMATE THAT ASSAULTED HIM IS IN PRISON BECAUSE HE FELT THAT IT WAS NECESSARY TO "TAKE WHAT HE NEEDED" INSTEAD OF PURCHASING IT. Maybe you should find a new job, I thought nurses were supoose to be caring. Hummm? NONE OF MY COMMENTS ON THIS ISSUE HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH HOW I FUNCTION IN MY ROLE AS A NURSE. I'VE BEEN A NURSE FOR 7 YEARS AND I HAVE ALWAYS HAD EXCELLENT EVALUATIONS FROM MY SUPERVISORS. I APOLOGIZE IF WHAT I WROTE ON THIS SUBJECT CAUSED YOU ANY DISCOMFORT. First of all, let me say that I'm very flattered that you called my comments "pathetic". It's sort of like the pot calling the kettle black. Everybody in this world is in control of their own destiny, just as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was. He didn't choose a life of drugs, stealing, and destruction...he used his energy constructively, just as EVERYBODY can.

Furthermore, just because I have opinions on certain subjects doesn't mean that I'm pathetic or uncaring. As a nurse in a jail, I see criminals after they've been apprehended and I've talked with many of them. Surprisingly, the greater majority of these criminals blame it on themselves, and most of them are incarcerated for possession of or delivery of a controlled substance. I don't know if you're a mother or not, but think about it like this- Do you think they'd ever offer to sell your child or children drugs? What if they're on the street, behind the wheel and under the influence of a controlled substance..and let's say that one of your loved ones is struck by the vehicle that this person is driving..Do you think they should be allowed to stay on the streets, or do you think they should be apprehended by the police? White, black, hispanic, japanese, chinese, etc.- These people have to be accountable for their actions.

Many of the offenders at the unit in which I work are repeat offenders, even though they are offered AA and NA, even though they are offered religious services, counseling and college courses. One offender told me that he was happy to be in jail because he can't handle life in the "real world", regardless of the rehabilitation services and job placement services that are offered by the facility. He stated to me that, "I'll always want to smoke pot, I like it." By the way, he was white.

I think everybody should respect the next person's opinion and be not so quick to judge with words such as "uncaring" and "pathetic". Happy Holidays.
