Political Overload
Published on September 14, 2004 By JillUser In Politics

I don't know how others out there are feeling but I think I am going to have to go in political "time out".  The inundation of he said/he said has taken its toll.  Terms like neo-con, fascist, and leftie have lost all meaning.  I need a break!

I have felt a responsibility to educate myself on the political issues at hand and learn as much as possible about the candidates.  I feel I am learning nothing except possibly media bias at this point.  I think I am going to go on a break until the debates.  I am tired of getting irked by arrogant statements and talking points.  The unending personal attacks have caused a numbing affect.

I like that idea. That might work too.
We, "do," need to let the politicians know that we do not appreciate, this kind of campaigning.

Maybe its because I'm on the younger end of a century, but I cant remember a more embattled political year. I completely agree, Im absolutely tired of it.

The political fanatacism that's taken up here and all over the web has just gotten ridiculous, it's so bad that honestly I skim sites like JU once a week just to see if there's anything non-election/politics related that's worth reading (I loved the Sims 2 article). Staying away from it all is the only way to keep myself from getting involved, which is just frustrating because no one is listening to the other side anymore (myself included). I can't wait until the election is over and we can all move on to posting blogs about silly weekend events, baby pictures and politically incorrect jokes. This election has made blogging a real drag lately.

The next JU feature that would be nice beyond filtering out users would be to filter out categories

I am so in agreement with all the comments posted here. Enough is enough! I've gotten to the point where I just zone out the comments when anyone starts talking and switching channels whenever a commercial comes on. We'll all do our duties and go to the poll and show exactly what we are thinking - no matter whom you are voting for, go out there and show them you mean business!

I've got an idea on what the audience should do. When either candidate starts ragging on their opponent.
Everybody begins yelling,
"NO! NO! NO!" "Just tell what you're going to do!"
The moderator better do a darn good job of keeping each on subject.  Noone wants to hear what one candidate thinks is wrong about the other.  We want to hear what they think is right about them and what they will do for us.

Straying dangerously close to entering the political arena, again. lol.
I thought it would be safe to watch Letterman as an alternative to one of the news channels but you can't avoid it.  I can't live in a cave until Nov so I will still hear and see this stuff, I just won't be seeking it out like I was.
