The adventures of Mommy woman

I have seen a lot of advice given lately regarding what to/not to blog about, when to blog about it, blacklisting, etc. The way I see it, it is your web log. Write about whatever you want whenever you want. If you are going to be knowingly offensive, restrict your audience. The only "don't" is don't put another blogger's name in your title unless it is complimentary.

You might want to take advice from others if you are worried about points, but otherwise, do your own thing. Your blog is your house here on JU. You have to abide by the neighborhood bylaws but other than that, it's your call.

Now, commenting is another story. Since you are then the guest at someone else's house, you need to mind your manners. I tend to stay away from blogs of people I know set me off. It is kind of like blacklisting myself I try to stick to the subject at hand but have been known to get caught up in defending people that I am in agreement with or people I think are being wrongly attacked. I try to be careful about it and know that the blogger has every right to delete anything I say that isn't on subject or simply rubs them the wrong way.

Well, that's my 2 cents at least. Blog on!

I think they should replace the Featured Articles with Sir Peter Maxwell Articles.

Karmagirl please address this important issue as soon as possible

JillUser, I apologize in advance for what I am about to say.  But, I have no choice at this point.  I can't let Dan off with his "teen angst" crap.  I really was going to let it slide because this is all like talking to a brick wall, but calling Brad a prick really put the nail in this coffin.

I will address #65 by Non-Buddha point by point (I numbered them.  They follow the comments that he makes.  It would be too long to include his original quotes since I am addressing each one

1) Sorry, Dan, but not everyone lives in Smalltown, MI.  you would be amazed at how many people own $1000+ printers.  Not just businesses, but just normal people.  You are really out of touch if you think that people don't drop that kind of cash on tech stuff.  Ever see the price tags on flat panel TV's?  The Best Buy by me sells over 15 $4500 models a week.  I know that because I asked "how many people would buy something that expensive?"  Obviously, at least 15 per week from just that store alone.

2) The current featured people are: Brad, Trent Polack, mikimouse, couchman, Joel Hynoski, JillUser, Anthony R.  Now, if you read my comment explaining that, it was in reference to the claim that the same clique of Brad's friends get featured.  Sorry, but besides Brad and JillUser, I hardly see those people featured.  And, I have never actually had a conversation with at least 2 of those people (or have read anything by them).  I know Trent from IRC, but didn't realize that he actually Blogs here.  And, obviously, saying "half" was a figure of speech.  How do you have 1/2 of 7 people?

3) Wasn't ranting.  Was just explaining again what Brad has said all along.  If you don't like the site, nothing keeps you here.

4)You are confusing featured with Top articles.  The top articles are already calculated by popularity.  Oh, but wait! I can't say that!  That would weaken the whole biased feature debate!

5) If you know you are being a hypocrite, why do you continue to do it?  If you think that you are truly a Buddha, you are insulting Buddhism.  You might as well claim that you are Christ while you are at it.

6) The sentence of: "I mean, you have Dan here, who hasn't quite figured out the hypocrisy in calling himself Buddha, whom created a fake name, said nasty things, got caught, and now posts "Brad is a God" type crap whenever possible to try and make up for it."  Is grammatically correct.  Just throw it through Word's grammar check and see if it complains.  Maybe you should check things out first

7) You right out said that Brad was a "God".  I think it was the day after your fake was brought to light.  It stuck in my brain because is seemed like such a "suck up" thing to say.  I have also seen other posts where you praise him like crazy.  (Except on here where you called him a prick....nice, real nice.)

8) What does AnthonyR. have to do with you?  Is that like a "well, he's doing it to, so it's OK for me to do it" type logic?   You are really revealing your age.  There was this guy on one of our other sites who kept pointing out "well, at least I'm not as bad as ______."  You know what happened to him?  He eventually got exiled.  Don't follow that lead.  You *know* that you have done some stupid things while here.  Don't compare yourself to other people.  It doesn't work that way.

9) Again, you show your arrogance.  Trust me, the admins of this site know more about the demographics of the typical user of this site than you do.

10) You didn't really say anything nor prove anything. (It's like the fish in Cat in the Hat...sure he is talking, but is he really saying anything?)

11) Again, you claim that you know who the "common" user is here.  I hate to tell you, but the "common" user probably doesn't read either of your sites.  You have a bit too much of an ego if you think they do.  Matter of fact, if the "ratings" were removed, you may see that your sites fall in a totally different area.  Or, if the same people couldn't post the same *ahem* ratings over and over again.....but, since you are so wise, you already know what I'm talking about.

12) No, you really don't know who I am.  There are *very* few people on this site who know who I am.  How do you know that I'm not just as fake as SPM? You don't. How do I know that you are not actually a girl?  I don't.  You don't know me, Muggaz doesn't know me. I don't know either of you.  And, I'm quite fine with that.

13) Again, your ego is getting the best of you.  The admins *do* know the demographics better than you.  You can *think* that you do, but trust me, you don't.

14) Dan pulled himself into this on his own.  And, he kept himself here.

But, Dan, why do I tick you off?  If you don't like to debate with me, why do you respond?  Or, do you just have the problem of taking things too personally?  You don't tick me off.  But, I have extremely thick skin.  However, I do speak my mind and tell it how I see it.  If you can't handle that, I suggest not conversing with me.

"I have done my job - the desired issue is at the forfront... truth will prevail!!!"
And, what "truth" is that?  And, I am perfectly happy with you not caring who I am. I actually prefer it that way.

SPM, I'll work on that feature for you   Right after I solve world hunger.

Again, JillUser, I do apologize for this getting so off topic.  If you feel like cleaning this out of your house, I completely understand.

This is a good example how we all need to mind our manners.

Jill~I just wanted to say that I like and admire you even more than before. You truly live by your words. It's not just all talk, etc. I was very touched by how you handled the recent situation regarding my George Bush blog. You didn't agree with it 100%. You were very honest and open about that fact. BUT you remained well-mannered and kind. Even helpful. Now that is what I call minding your manners in another blogger's house big time. With much style and grace.

I have received some rather * clears throat * unhappy comments from a conservative blogger or two. Those folks did not conduct themselves in an all that respectful way in my house. But you know what? I am very happy they decided to pay me a rather unhappy visit. Because it is helping me to sharpen my debating skills, and also alters the flow somewhat of what direction the debate was headed in at the start. Even kind of lightens things up a bit, huh? I mean, I actually kind of like the way a deliberately rude blogger forces me to figure out a polite, but firm way (I use a little bit of humor to do this) to send out the signal that deliberately rude behavior is not welcome in my home. A friendly warning. And I have seen you do the same thing over here too. So I truly understand and admire you for that. Thank you for not resorting to petty behavior when you visited my blog recently. You were most kind, and well-intentioned. And I sensed that right from the start. I guess you already know by now that I think you are one of the most intelligent and wisest folks here, huh? So I will be quiet now. And thanks again for this smart and thought provoking blog.

~MadPoet

P.S. I left a rather longish response to your much appreciated comment on my George Bush blog. I hope it clarifies my intentions a little bit better?

Jill, you would be proud of me. I knew I'd do something I would regret if I read Karma's comment, and didn't even read it. It doesn't bring me all the pleasure you said it might, but at least I'm not blacklisted, right?

I must ask, though... why was Karma's personal insult not included in the "things I don't want in my own house" list? It's your house and you can do what you want, but I'd like to know.

Just between you and me Jill, and anyone else who reads this baby, do you think my latest article is feature worthy? It has been around for nearly a day now, and not featured... Kupe wrote an article 10 minutes ago... featured straight away.

BAM!!!

When it comes to featuring, my only ideology is capitalism. It's as simple as that.

"my only ideology is capitalism"

Tremendous ideology to have dear boy, I will be writing an article on my capitalist philosophy and i will allow you to feature it, jolly good show old egg.

Wow, where to start here. I guess with Dan.

Dan, first of all, I am proud that you walked on by Karma's comment since you felt you would only set off and say something you shouldn't. The reason I didn't escort Karma out was that she apologized both times and acknowledged it was my house. You, on the other hand, had your way with it with no apology. Your only apology was that it was longer than you had planned.

MP, I saw your comment and appreciated it. I was relieved you took my words as intended. That doesn't always happen. You are obviously a mature, intelligent person. Thanks for the kind words.

MasonM, sorry, I don't get your soap opera reference

Muggaz, obviously I can't tell what Brad is thinking so I can only give you my "ideas". I thought your article was great as far as message but here are the things I think Brad probably would dislike 1) Poor title choice 2) Poorly written - not just poor spelling and grammar, but wording was a little hard to follow 3) I am not sure he would feature anything with BAM!!! at the end. But that is just an opinion about an opinion so I don't know how much good it will do you

"I'm not sure how fair it was to drag Dan into this."

I'd advise disowning this comment, since I kind of jumped headlong into it:) Sorry about that....

I'm officially disowing this comment with Dan's blessings.

Jill:

I'm back for another fun day at your house, I see lots has gone on while I was away. I ran to the market and picked up some Resolve for that juice stain . Also, I brought some bagels and coffee--playing the hostess all the time can be a drain on the budget, so I thought I'd pitch in.

Looks like there's a bit of a mess to clean up from last night's gathering--I'm a mean housekeeper, so let me know which room to start on...

Ok--back to reality--a bit sad that a conversation on how to behave on someone's blog got turned into a sideshow. Probably best that it's all been said and done now, but I'm sorry that your blog was the location for the confrontation.

The reason I didn't escort Karma out was that she apologized both times and acknowledged it was my house.

I think that Jill knows by now that she could delete anything I say on her blog without offending me.  That comes from what I see as mutual respect.  You don't have to always agree with somebody to respect them.

shadesofgrey, I'll be more than happy to help you clean up the mess

Shades and Kharma, I always welcome help around the house

Things did get a little crazy around here. I don't mind people coming over to air their laundry every once in a while.

I too find it ironic that the thread disintegrated the way it did.

Hand me some Playtex gloves and some Pine-Sol and tell me where to get started....
