My 2 Cents About Blogs

Blogging
I have seen a lot of advice given lately regarding what to/not to blog about, when to blog about it, blacklisting, etc. The way I see it, it is your web log. Write about whatever you want whenever you want. If you are going to be knowingly offensive, restrict your audience. The only "don't" is don't put another blogger's name in your title unless it is complimentary.
You might want to take advice from others if you are worried about points, but otherwise, do your own thing. Your blog is your house here on JU. You have to abide by the neighborhood bylaws but other than that, it's your call.
Now, commenting is another story. Since you are then the guest at someone else's house, you need to mind your manners. I tend to stay away from blogs of people I know set me off. It is kind of like blacklisting myself
I try to stick to the subject at hand but have been known to get caught up in defending people that I am in agreement with or people I think are being wrongly attacked. I try to be careful about it and know that the blogger has every right to delete anything I say that isn't on subject or simply rubs them the wrong way.
Well, that's my 2 cents at least. Blog on!

It seems so grade school to me!
It seems to me that most of these kinds of critical posts are written by the JoeUsers who are still in school. Just an observation.

I don't agree with the house analogy. Because it would mean I might actually have to rethink the way I post.

You're not the only one who's noticed that. Perhaps it's because the more...*ahem* senior writers among us realize what will come of criticism like that? Perhaps we have honed our social skills slightly more than those of us who are still learning?
Again, it all comes down to wisdom and experience....lessons learned.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I didn't know whether this would be appreciated or just met with a lot of "duh!" type comments. I just thought that there were quite a few bloggers taking themselves too seriously and expecting others to blog the same way. I enjoy it most when I see more of a variety of blogs but if everyone decides to do a "what I think of JU bloggers" article on the same day, so be it.
CC: You can have the couch from the basement. It has been barfed on repeatedly
MP: You seem to be quite well liked here. Don't let it get to you. I think you have done the right thing for yourself. Best wishes.
Syrrus: I agree, it is wise to build a support system
Thanks for the nice comments.
BlueDev: Thanks. I appreciate it.
Dan: Now we can't have you rethinking anything can we
Dharma: You always assist me in getting my points across. I thank you my fellow "senior".

Most definitely CC. Last instance was about a year ago. Luckily noone has barfed on furniture since we moved a year ago. Now carpet is a different subject
Enough about my real house. Back to my JU house. I truly appreciate my consistant guests and am always happy when new ones pop by. I have had a few enjoyable visits to other blogs today too.

Who wants to come to my 'house'? If you want cheese or milk I'm sorry to inform you that I'm all out. I just ran out right now!
My B-Day's in less than 3 months. You're all invited to give me presents. Llamas and loads of cash are always accepted.
Alright, Jill, you can talk about the figurative house now.

Dan, I wasn't even aware you used the word senior anywhere. I just used it because Dharma had said senior writers. It's not always about you my friend
Thanks Mack!

He used it on someone else's blog, Jill..I think it was Dev's. He said 'senior blogger'. I said 'senior writer'. 'Senior' seemed the best word to use...so I used it.

Jill...
This may come off as a bit wierd and harsh, and i dont mean it in an offensive way... but all people want is exposure... how many feature articles do you have here???
I must admit, I have thought many a great article goes un-noticed here at JU, because the featuring is still subject to the benovalent masters - and to tell you the truth, it is a little dis-enchanting...
The community here is getting larger by the day, and if someone wants to be seen by the newer bloggers, they have to stir the pot - I haven't resorted to that, its not my style, but you and the other consortium of favorites will always have exposure.
I am not trying to defend the perpetrators, I just see where they are coming from.
BAM!!!

Like I said Muggaz, if you are worried about points or have some agenda (i.e. exposure as you put it) by all means listen to the others' advice. I blog because I want to put down in words stuff that I am thinking when I am thinking it. I have made a lot of friends here by doing that.
I couldn't tell you how many feature articles I have. Most of the time I don't even look at the home page I just go straight to forums. I enjoy the social aspect of JU mostly. Sometimes I write things because I want to learn what others are thinking about a subject or current event. I think whatever you write about, if you write it well and give it a good title, you are bound to get exposure.
Thanks for the input Muggaz.

Stop lying you guys. You know that you are here to get the points. J/K
I honestly blog here because it's fun and entertaining. It's like watching t.v. even the worse shows have their good moments.
I don't really care if you guys want exposure. If that's what I was here for I'd have given up a long time ago. I KNOW there's no way I'm getting on the front page any time soon. So why would I care? My friends that I invited to JoeUser all want to get to the top but I know they don't really care if they don't.
